The Role

As our Senior Hardware Developer, you'll be the go-to engineer for everything electronics and product hardware. You'll design, prototype, test, and productize the boards, kits, and devices that power our learning platforms — working across Arduino, ESP32/ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, and newer/emerging platforms. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role: schematic to PCB to enclosure to a product that ships.

What You'll Do

Design and develop hardware products end-to-end — from concept and requirement definition through prototyping, testing, and production handoff.

Build on and around Arduino, ESP32/ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, STM32, and other microcontroller/SBC platforms; evaluate and adopt current-age platforms as they emerge.

Design PCBs — schematic capture, layout, routing, BOM creation, and design-for-manufacturing — using tools such as KiCad, Eagle, or Altium.

Own product/industrial design considerations: form factor, enclosures, connectors, durability, and safety, especially for products used by children.

Write and debug embedded firmware (C/C++, MicroPython) to bring boards to life and validate designs.

Integrate sensors, actuators, motors, displays, and wireless modules (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE, etc.).

Prototype rapidly, run bring-up and testing, and troubleshoot hardware issues down to the component level.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation — schematics, BOMs, assembly guides, and test procedures.

Work with vendors and manufacturers on component sourcing, PCB fabrication, assembly, and quality.

Collaborate with the product, content, and education teams to translate learning goals into robust, cost-effective hardware.

Guide and mentor junior team members on hardware and embedded best practices.

What You Bring

5–8 years of hands-on experience in hardware/electronics product development, with products you've taken to production.

Deep, practical command of Arduino, ESP32/ESP8266, and Raspberry Pi ecosystems, plus general microcontroller architecture.

Strong PCB design skills — schematic design, multi-layer layout, and DFM — in KiCad, Eagle, Altium, or similar.

Solid embedded firmware skills in C/C++ (Python/MicroPython a plus).

Working knowledge of electronics fundamentals: analog/digital circuits, power management, signal integrity, and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.).

Hands-on prototyping and lab skills — soldering, using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.

Experience with sensors, actuators, motor drivers, and wireless connectivity.

Familiarity with the manufacturing pipeline — sourcing, fabrication, assembly, and testing.

A product mindset: cost-consciousness, reliability, and (a big plus here) an instinct for safe, durable, easy-to-use designs for young users.

Ability to work independently and own projects end-to-end.

Nice to Have

Experience designing educational, consumer, or IoT hardware products.

Exposure to 3D modeling / CAD (Fusion 360, SolidWorks) for enclosures and mechanical parts.

Experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping.

Interest in robotics, STEM education, or making technology accessible to kids.

Why Join Us

You'll have real ownership over the products at the heart of what we do, freedom to experiment with the latest platforms, and the satisfaction of building things that spark curiosity in the next generation of engineers.
