About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Systems / Firmware Engineer to join our Humanoid Robotics R&D; team. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and optimizing embedded firmware and low-level software for advanced robotic systems.

The role involves close collaboration with Electronics, Robotics, Controls, Mechanical, AI/ML, and Software teams to develop reliable and high-performance embedded systems for humanoid robots.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for humanoid robotic systems.
- Develop robust and efficient firmware using Embedded C/C .
- Work with microcontrollers, processors, sensors, actuators, motor controllers, and embedded peripherals.
- Develop firmware for robot joints, actuators, motor control systems, sensor interfaces, and robotic subsystems.
- Implement real-time embedded applications using RTOS.
- Develop and integrate communication interfaces such as CAN/CAN-FD, UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, Ethernet, and EtherCAT.
- Interface and communicate with BLDC/servo motors, encoders, IMUs, force/torque sensors, current sensors, position sensors, and other robotic sensors.
- Develop and integrate motor control and actuator control firmware.
- Perform hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and firmware validation.
- Analyze and resolve hardware-software integration issues.
- Optimize firmware for real-time performance, memory utilization, CPU usage, power consumption, and system reliability.
- Develop device drivers, peripheral interfaces, communication stacks, and low-level firmware modules.
- Work on interrupts, timers, DMA, ADC, PWM, GPIO, watchdogs, and other MCU peripherals.
- Implement error handling, diagnostics, fault detection, and safety mechanisms.
- Perform firmware testing, unit testing, integration testing, and system-level validation.
- Use debugging tools such as JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and debuggers.
- Collaborate with electronics engineers for schematic/PCB validation and hardware bring-up.
- Support integration of embedded systems with higher-level robotics software and control systems.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, technical documentation, and development planning.




- Troubleshoot field and laboratory issues and provide root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Follow coding standards, version control, documentation, and software development best practices.

Technical Skills Required

Programming Languages

- Strong proficiency in Embedded C and C .
- Valuable understanding of object-oriented programming concepts in C .
- Experience with Python for scripting, testing, or automation will be an advantage.

Microcontrollers / Processors

- Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex-M / Cortex-A based platforms.
- Experience with STM32, TI, NXP, ESP32, Renesas, or similar MCU platforms will be preferred.

RTOS & Embedded Software

- Strong understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Experience with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX, or similar RTOS.
- Good understanding of multitasking, scheduling, synchronization, mutexes, semaphores, queues, and interrupt handling.

Communication Protocols

- CAN / CAN-FD
- UART
- SPI
- I2C
- RS232 / RS485
- Ethernet
- EtherCAT
- TCP/IP or other industrial communication protocols will be an advantage.

Robotics & Motion Control

- Experience with BLDC / PMSM / Servo motors.
- Understanding of motor control concepts such as FOC, PWM, current control, velocity control, and position control will be preferred.
- Experience with encoders, IMU, force/torque sensors, actuators, and robotic joints.
- Knowledge of robotics control systems and actuator electronics will be an advantage.

Hardware Debugging The candidate should have hands-on experience with:

- Embedded hardware bring-up
- Firmware flashing and debugging
- JTAG / SWD debugging
- Oscilloscope
- Logic analyzer
- Multimeter
- Serial debugging
- Signal analysis
- Hardware-software integration
- Root-cause analysis of embedded system failures

Development Tools & Practices

- Experience with Git / GitHub / GitLab or equivalent version-control systems.




- Familiarity with IDEs such as STM32CubeIDE, Keil, IAR, VS Code, or similar.
- Experience with debugging and profiling embedded applications.
- Understanding of Git-based development workflows and code reviews.
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle and testing methodologies.

Education Required:

- B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in:
- Electronics & Communication Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Embedded Systems
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- or related engineering discipline.

Experience

- 5 years of relevant experience in Embedded Systems / Firmware Development.
- Strong hands-on experience in developing firmware for real-world embedded products.
- Candidates with experience in Robotics, Industrial Automation, Autonomous Systems, Motion Control, Automotive, or Mechatronics will be highly preferred.
