About the role
The team in Bengaluru owns the Observability platform that underpins Tesco's engineering organisation. We are responsible for three production-grade tools — Splunk, New Relic, and Runscope — and act as the platform team that enables hundreds of engineering and infrastructure teams to adopt observability best practices at scale.
As an SE3 in this team, you will be a senior technical owner across all three tools. You will not just operate the platform — you will evolve it: driving cost efficiency, improving security posture, rolling out new capabilities (including AI-powered features in New Relic), and enabling infrastructure teams to onboard via OpenTelemetry. You will work closely with the Security team, set SLI/SLO standards for the platform, and mentor junior engineers.
This role suits someone who is equally comfortable with deep technical work and cross-team collaboration, and who takes ownership of outcomes, not just tasks.

widely-adopted log management and SIEM platform. Your focus here is on sustaining reliability, controlling costs, and improving security — not building from scratch.
• Partner with the Security team to onboard recent data sources — validating log formats, agreeing ingestion scope, and ensuring data pipeline stability throughout the onboarding process
• Own data ingestion cost governance: analyse ingestion volumes by team and source, identify waste or noise, and implement controls (event filtering, aggregation, summary indexing) to keep costs within budget
• Define and enforce ingestion standards — teams should ingest only what is needed for their alerting, compliance, and debugging use cases
• Monitor and maintain platform SLIs/SLOs: indexing throughput, search latency, forwarder health, and data availability
• Drive Splunk security improvements: access control reviews, index-level permissions, audit log monitoring, credential hy
