About MavenProTech
MavenProTech is a UK-based product company delivering intelligent software and expert services for the process industries. This position is based full-time in our Visakhapatnam (Vizag), India office, with some remote flexibility and occasional travel. You will join the founding team in our Vizag office and should be comfortable working UK hours to maintain the necessary overlap with our UK-based team and European customers.
The role
You are a full-stack product engineer working across our product lines. You contribute to MavenProTech's product development work. The backend is the familiar house stack you already work in — Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, raw psycopg via db.py — so it is familiar ground, not a new technology.
Experience: 8+ years of professional software engineering, including 5+ years hands-on Python backend and 3+ years shipping to production (ideally on-prem or in a regulated industry). Prior work with raw SQL (no ORM), on-prem Windows delivery, or 21 CFR Part 11 / GMP domain is a significant plus. We expect you to own product features end-to-end with light guidance from the UK team.
What you'll do
- Python-first — Python is the primary language across our stack.
- Customer data apps — model workbooks as schema; build Excel ingest, validation, transactional load; ship the on-prem app end to end.
- Backend — FastAPI + PostgreSQL; role-gated endpoints; background workers; audit.
- Time-series & historian — read live process data from the control layer into a time-series DB (InfluxDB etc.); expose live status and trend endpoints.
- Product front end — vanilla-JS ES modules: editable grids, operator forms, dashboards, hand-rolled SVG KPI/trend charts, print/PDF views.
- Ship on-premise — Docker / Compose, internal-CA TLS, backup/restore, retention, HA-friendly patterns, one-page runbooks.
- Guard data integrity — validation, provenance, idempotent loaders, single-transaction commits across products.
Must-have
- Deep Python 3.12+ — FastAPI / Starlette with pydantic v2 request/response models, asyncio (including httpx for upstream service calls), packaging; comfortable operating your own services.
- Strong relational SQL — schema / DDL design, FKs and constraints, indexes, transactions. We run PostgreSQL 16; solid MySQL experience is fine — you'll pick up the Postgres specifics (JSONB, RETURNING, upserts, psycopg v3) in your first weeks.
- Excel at a programmer's level — openpyxl / pandas: inspect, coerce, validate, and load multi-sheet workbooks transactionally.
- Competent vanilla-JS front end — ES modules, no framework: grids, forms, wizards, dashboards, hand-rolled SVG charts, print CSS.
- Real-time / time-series comfort — reasoning about live process data and a historian, or a strong appetite to learn it fast.
- Auth, roles, audit — session / role-gated APIs and a who-changed-what audit trail across products.
- On-prem delivery — Docker on Linux / Windows; TLS, backups, firewalling for internal-only customer servers. Comfortable operating NSSM-wrapped Windows services (Restart-Service, log rotation, stdout tailing) — not just packaging them.
Nice-to-have
- SVG-DOM / interactive graphics — a path into the SCADA-HMI layer over time.
- Industrial data exposure — OPC / historian / SCADA concepts, ISA-88 recipes, blending or batch KPIs.
- GMP / 21 CFR Part 11 awareness — immutable audit trails, e-signatures bound to actor + meaning + timestamp, locked-on-approval records. Directly relevant to our EBR / batch-record product.
- .NET 8 / C# — willingness to extend (not rewrite) our ASP.NET Core services.
- Ed25519 licensing, high-availability patterns (redundancy manager + witness + VIP failover), PowerShell / NSSM packaging.
- Documentation authoring with pandoc — our customer Word / PowerPoint / Visio artefacts are regenerated from Markdown via a build script; the same pattern is used across products.
- Testing hygiene — pytest, integration tests against a live PostgreSQL, contract tests for FastAPI endpoints. Our codebase's test coverage is currently light; someone who brings this discipline is a plus.

- Backend — Python 3.12+ (3.14 in production), FastAPI 0.115+ / Starlette, uvicorn 0.34+, pydantic v2, psycopg v3.3+ with psycopg-pool, httpx
- Database — PostgreSQL 16 (SQLite fallback for offline dev), dual-backend abstraction with a SQLite PG SQL-translation layer
- Data / Excel — openpyxl 3.1+, pandas, xlsxwriter; two-pass transactional import pipeline
- Front end — Vanilla JS ES modules, hand-rolled SVG charts + inline SVG icons; no framework, no build step
- Reporting — reportlab (PDF), scheduled report dispatcher
- Deploy — Docker / Compose on Linux; NSSM services + PowerShell installers on Windows Server 2019+
- Time-series — InfluxDB 2.7+ historian driver / control-layer ingest, live status & trend APIs
- Reliability — Ed25519 offline licence; full HA (redundancy manager + witness + VIP failover)
- Compliance — 21 CFR Part 11-style e-signatures and immutable audit trail (EBR / batch-record product)
- Docs — pandoc-based build (.md .docx / .pptx) with MavenProTech-branded PowerPoint reference deck
- Adjacent — .NET 8 / C# (occasional extension, not rewrite)
