Reuters Technology builds and runs the systems behind one of the world's largest and most trusted news organisations. Among them is a specialist machine-learning platform that screens and classifies media content at scale. In production since 2019, running every day, and now moving quickly from classical machine-learning models toward large-language-model and generative-AI pipelines on AWS.
First and foremost, we're looking for an outstanding AI/ML engineer to take technical ownership of this platform. You'll spend most of your time in the models and the code - designing, building, evaluating and shipping - and you'll set the technical direction for where the platform goes next.
It's also a role with scope to lead. You'll be the anchor for a small team and you'll be the technical point of contact for the platform's stakeholders, including a US-based partner Thomson Reuters business. We'd equally welcome a senior or staff engineer ready to grow into that and an engineering lead who has stayed genuinely close to the code.
,,About the Role :
Build and own the platform (hands-on)
— the core of the role
Take end-to-end technical ownership of our media-screening platform, both its classical ML models and its newer LLM/GenAI pipelines, running in production on AWS.
Spend most of your time hands-on: design, build, evaluate and ship models and the services around them.
Drive the migration from classical ML toward LLM and generative-AI approaches, deciding pragmatically where up-to-date techniques earn their place and where proven models should stay.
Own reliability, cost, quality and MLOps discipline for a system that runs in production every day.
Set direction and lead
Set the technical direction, standards and roadmap for the platform, and make the calls on architecture and approach.
Be accountable for delivery — planning, prioritisation, and keeping a daily-production system healthy.
Represent and partner
Be the technical point of contact for the platform's stakeholders, incl
