About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the backend systems powering Eyewa’s e-commerce platform, order management, payments, fulfilment and in-store experiences.
You will manage and develop a team of backend engineers while remaining closely involved in technical direction, architecture and delivery. Working across Product, Mobile, Web, Operations, Supply Chain and Customer Support, you will help build reliable, scalable systems that directly impact our customers and business.
What You’ll Do
Lead the design, development and scaling of Java-based backend systems across e-commerce, OMS, POS, CRM and payment platforms.
Drive architectural decisions for scalable microservices and distributed systems.
Ensure the availability, performance,
security and reliability of backend services.
Oversee API design and integrations across internal and external platforms.
Establish robust engineering practices across system design, coding, testing, observability and deployment.
Review technical designs and contribute to critical code reviews.
Manage, mentor and develop a team of backend engineers.
Lead sprint planning and the delivery of business-critical initiatives.
Build a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement.
Partner with Product, Design, Operations and Support to align technical delivery with business priorities.
Identify and address delivery bottlenecks, technical debt and operational inefficiencies.
Support the hiring, onboarding, performance management and career development of engineers.
Lead incident management, root-cause analysis and post-mortem processes.
