Job Description
Job Purpose
Provide specialist technical oversight for the ±500 kV VSC-HVDC terminal stations, including converter technology, AC/DC system interfaces, converter transformers, valves, reactors, filters, control, protection and system integration.
Key Responsibilities
Review the overall HVDC system architecture, design criteria and technical interfaces.
Review OEM documents for VSC converters, converter valves, converter transformers and associated auxiliaries.
Review AC/DC filters, phase reactors,



smoothing reactors, harmonic filters and reactive-power equipment.
Review station control, pole control, valve control, protection, monitoring and sequence-of-events systems.
Review operating modes, power-control functions, voltage and reactive-power control and system recovery philosophy.
Review control and protection coordination between the HVDC system, AC substations, grid protection, SCADA and telecom systems.
Review applicable system studies, including load flow, short circuit, harmonic, insulation coordination, overvoltage, dynamic-performance and electromagnetic-interference studies.
Verify technical interfaces between converter transformers, valves, cooling systems, control systems and station auxiliaries.
Review converter hall, valve hall, equipment-layout and environmental requirements.
Review OEM manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning procedures.
