Position Summary The Safety Head will be the single point of accountability for Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) across all manufacturing plants. The role requires a safety-qualified professional capable of independently managing safety systems across multiple manufacturing units simultaneously, driving a zero-harm culture, ensuring full statutory compliance, and reporting directly to the management.

Key Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) performance across all manufacturing plants ensuring uniform safety standards across units.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve plant safety management systems, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and risk assessments for each unit.
- Ensure full compliance with the Factories Act, State Factory Rules, Fire & Life Safety norms, Environment (Protection) Act, and all other applicable statutory / regulatory requirements.
- Act as the designated Safety head / Occupational Health & Safety representative for liaison with the Factory Inspectorate, Fire Department, Pollution Control Board, and other government authorities.
- Lead incident/accident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective & preventive action (CAPA) closure across all plants; maintain accident/near-miss MIS and drive year-on-year reduction in incident rates.




- Plan and conduct regular safety audits, mock drills, fire safety drills, and emergency preparedness exercises across all sites.
- Drive a robust safety culture through structured training, talks, compliance, and behavior-based safety (BBS) programs for employees and contract workforce.
- Manage contractor and vendor safety compliance, including work permits (hot work, height, confined space, electrical isolation), and safety induction for new employees and contractors.
- Oversee fire safety systems, hazardous material handling/storage, machine guarding, electrical safety, and industrial hygiene across all manufacturing units.
- Prepare and present periodic EHS performance reports, audit findings, and improvement plans to the management and senior leadership.
- Drive implementation and continual improvement of various systems.
- Manage the safety budget, resource planning, and deployment of Safety Officers/Supervisors across the multiple plants.
- Keep the organization updated on changes in safety legislation and ensure timely implementation of any new statutory requirements.

Qualification & Certification

- Diploma / Degree in Industrial Safety (Government-recognized, as required under the Factories Act) is mandatory.
- Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS) / NEBOSH / IOSH certification will be an added advantage.
- Valid Statutory Safety Officer certification / license applicable in Maharashtra.
- Engineering background (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical)



with a specialization in Industrial Safety is preferred.

Experience

- 15+ years of overall experience in Industrial Safety / EHS roles within a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity overseeing multiple plants/units simultaneously.
- Proven experience managing safety across multi-plant/multi-location manufacturing operations is essential.
- Experience in large corporate, home furnishings, or process manufacturing industry will be preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of statutory liaison, audits, and successful implementation of safety management systems.

Eligibility Criteria

- Must be medically and physically fit, with the ability to travel and work across multiple plant locations on a regular basis.
- Candidates with a background in the Armed Forces, Civil Services, Police, or Para-military services combined with a recognized safety qualification will be strongly preferred, given the discipline, crisis-management orientation, and command experience such backgrounds bring to a multi-plant safety charter.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong command and leadership presence; able to enforce safety discipline firmly and consistently across diverse plant teams.
- Sound working knowledge of the Factories Act, Environment laws, Fire safety codes, and other statutory frameworks.
- Excellent crisis-management, decision-making, and emergency-response capability.
- High personal integrity and zero-compromise attitude towards safety standards.
- Strong communication and reporting skills, with the ability to present clearly to senior management.
- Ability to independently manage and coordinate safety operations across multiple manufacturing sites.

Reporting & Working Relationship This position reports directly to the management and will coordinate closely with Plant Heads, HR, for all manufacturing units.
