East West India (EWIN) is a critical and strategically important business for the Global EWS.

To continue growing the market, business compliance is one of key priorities including a focus to build capabilities across functions on the knowledge of regulatory landscape in India relating to seed movement, access and benefit sharing and intellectual property protection.

Thus, a role of Regulatory Affairs Manager is critical to business success and to ensure our operations are complying with all seed related legislation in India.

This role will be responsible for leading the Seed Registration-related activities in India including import/export regulations, access and benefit sharing and intellectual property rights protection and obtaining timely regulatory approvals for the Country. Coordinate for PVP of new varieties, seed movement required for R & D, Testing, Seed production from different sources within and from outside country., New product registration, inclusion of varieties in seed license and renewals per state etc.

This role will report directly to the Global Manager, Regulatory affairs and dotted line report to the General Manager of East-West Seed India. The role will expand to cover regulatory support to East-West Seed business in India on seed movement and germplasm collection to comply with Access and benefit sharing schemes of the country. At the national level, this role will work closely with the Public Affairs manager in EWIN to support policy advocacy related activities by partnering with like minded external stakeholders for example ; national seed associations, media and NGOs.

To fill this role, EWIN is looking to hire a high-energy,

enthusiastic and passionate individual who has a zeal to lead and manage Regulatory and

Government affairs.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities to support at the national level





● Be a single contact of the Company for all regulatory and government affairs of the company for seed business operations and liaise with various regulatory authorities for timely submissions and approvals.

● Compile dossier for plant variety registration of crop denominations, seed submission etc. in coordination with breeding team for smooth registration of the varieties

● Co-ordinate and obtain New product registrations and inclusion in seed license following respective states regulation and coordination with respective crop breeder and sales team for the same.

● Compile dossier and coordinating with Sales team for applying and renewal of Seed license

● Compile a dossier and obtain approval from DSIR for the company's R&D; sites.

● Compile applications for access /export/transfer of Indian bioresources to enable compliance with NBA regulations.

● Collect and update the new requirements/developments in the regulatory environment to the concerned persons.

● Prepare and manage local submissions in India to obtain the required approvals and maintain the existing approved events and permission granted for future references

(renewal/updates for retrievals/tracking).

● To monitor and contribute to developing the regulatory scene within the territory and early identification of new requirements to internal stakeholders in EWS who can be affected on the regulation change.

● Build networking with Government / Regulatory offices in line with company code of conducts.

● Train / Update to internal stakeholders about the relevant regulatory subjects /

developments





● Represent East-West Seed India in industry associations, government consultations,

policy forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements; build and maintain strategic relationships with senior government officials, industry leaders, and key external stakeholders to advance regulatory, policy, and business objectives.

Responsibilities to support at the regional level

● Work with Global/Regional Manager, Regulatory Affairs to maintain and update the import regulation database globally and to support on ensuring regulatory compliance for East-West Seed operating in Asia region.

● Support Global Manager, Regulatory Affairs to conduct internal training relating to seed movement, access and benefit sharing and intellectual property rights protection in seed business.

● Able to represent EWS at the regional forum on policy advocacy related activities.

Requirement :

Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural related field required; Master’s degree/ Doctor of

Philosophy in Agriculture with additional courses related to regulatory or government affairs will be an advantage.

● 8 years of experience in a management role under a corporate, government or diplomatic mission setting

● Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

● Superlative and creative problem-solving and analytical skills

● Ability to think strategically and make balancing choices based on diverse perspectives, leveraging facts and insights

● Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the regional seed policy and Indian agricultural systems and policies.

● Robust project management skills, with the ability to build relationship and work collaboratively across functions and with external stakeholders

● Good social and networking skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues throughout the organization, and external stakeholders.
