Job Description:
About role:
The Operations Automation Specialist will function as a technical specialist and will have expertise of physical and digital technologies and their practical application in industry, e.g., Automation systems, IIOT, Cloud integration, Network security, Maintenance and Reliability etc. They will join a squad as part of the wider IIOT team within Upstream R&D; Technology, gaining exposure to groundbreaking technologies and their real-world applications.
In addition, the role will contribute to the development, integration, and testing of robotics solutions for both surveillance (remote inspection, monitoring, situational awareness) and task‑based operations (inspection, manipulation, and intervention activities) in laboratory environments and handing over to business for integration in inspection and maintenance schedules.
The Operations Automation Specialist will interface closely with other technology experts, and business partners in researching, crafting,



testing and detailing IoT solutions to meet business challenges across a wide range of domains including Production, Projects, Subsurface & Wells, Crisis, Renewables, and Refining.
Role Overview:
Working as part of a team to develop, implement and test technology solutions (IIoT & Sensors / Telemetry / Robotics):
Understand business requirements and value prospect
Design and document quality assurance test cycles
Developing end to end technology solutions to deliver specific outcomes
Prepare and support field test activities
Run and document the output of test cycles, fixes and upgrades
Integration of compliant technology solutions with total site infrastructure
Role requirements:
Translate business needs into technology requirements
Support on vendor technology reviews and make recommendations to the appropriate design authority
Support definitions of solution architectures and ensure compliance throughout project implementation
