Role & responsibilities
- Define and own the testing strategy across our products: what is covered by unit tests, API tests, end-to-end automation, and structured exploratory testing.
- Build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright and TypeScript, including regression packs, API/contract tests, and read-only smoke suites that validate production releases.
- Verify financial correctness amounts, signs, currency rounding, accrual and cash treatment, aging buckets, opening balances, and reconciliation tie-outs against the source accounting system. Investigate and isolate discrepancies to the cent.
- Test multi-tenant isolation and access control as a first-class feature across every client-scoped API, shared link, report, and export.
- Test integration behavior under real conditions: OAuth expiry and token refresh, API rate limits and quota exhaustion, partial failures, retries, idempotency of write-back operations, and recovery after a failed sync.
- Validate asynchronous and stateful behavior queues, scheduled jobs, sync pipelines, caching and invalidation, and stale-state defects where the interface and the database disagree.
- Evaluate AI-assisted features (vendor resolution, categorization, document extraction) using labeled datasets; measure accuracy, track regressions across model and prompt changes, and define clear pass/fail thresholds for non-deterministic output.
- Own release QA: regression scope, cross-service deployment ordering, database migration safety, rollback verification, and post-deployment validation.
- Write defect reports engineers can act on immediately precise reproduction steps, environment and data conditions, expected versus actual behavior, supporting logs and network evidence, and severity assessed by business impact.
- Strengthen the quality system itself: CI gates, flake reduction, critical-path coverage, test data management, and reporting on defect trends and release health.
- Perform accessibility, responsive, and performance checks on data-dense review screens across desktop and mobile widths.
Preferred candidate profile
- Minimum 3 years of professional software QA experience, including ownership of testing for a production application.
- Hands-on test automation experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium using TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Solid API testing capability: REST semantics, authentication flows, status codes, payload contracts, and negative and boundary case design.
- Working SQL proficiency — able to independently verify application behavior against MySQL or PostgreSQL and trace reporting discrepancies to their source.
- Practical understanding of modern web architecture: browser developer tools, network analysis, sessions and token-based authentication, caching, and background job processing.
- Experience testing third-party API integrations and webhook or callback-driven workflows.
- Rigorous test design skills — equivalence partitioning, boundary analysis, state transition testing, and risk-based prioritization — with the judgment to know when exploratory testing is the better tool.
- Comfort working inside the codebase: Git, CI/CD pipelines, reading source to trace a defect, and submitting pull requests for test coverage.
- Excellent written communication. Test plans, defect reports, and release sign-offs must be clear to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Professional discipline handling sensitive production data, including strict adherence to read-only access boundaries and secure handling of credentials and client information
