Email: [email protected] The Role

You will own the end-to-end design and development of all pressure vessels, propellant tanks, high-pressure vessels, and associated PMDs, from concept through to proof and burst tested hardware. You are accountable for the structural integrity, propellant management, and thermal performance of all tank hardware as an integrated system, and you own the structural-PMD coupling at diaphragm and bladder interfaces. This role holds the tank system's integrity end to end.

What You’ll Work On

Own the end-to-end design and development of all pressure vessels, propellant tanks, HP vessels, and associated PMDs, from concept through to proof and burst tested hardware.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the end-to-end design and development of all pressure vessels, propellant tanks, HP vessels, and associated PMDs, from concept through to proof and burst tested hardware
- Own the interface between PMD and Structures & Thermal sub-teams, specifically the structural-PMD coupling at diaphragm and bladder interfaces
- Represent the Tank Development Team at design reviews and pressure test campaigns
- Accountable for structural integrity, propellant management, and thermal performance of all tank and vessel hardware as an integrated system
- Accountable for DFM and test campaign understanding being embedded across both sub-teams

- Coordinate with System Development Lead on tank integration into the master assembly, mechanical interfaces, CG contribution, and integration sequence
- Coordinate with Fluidic Components Lead on tank outlet interfaces, propellant and pressurant port designs, sealing interfaces, and flow conditioning at tank exit
- Coordinate with Propellant & Materials Department on propellant compatibility data, material approvals, surface treatment specifications, and liner qualification
- Coordinate with Systems Engineering on tank and vessel requirements, volume, mass, proof factor, burst factor, life cycles

Required Qualifications

- 6–12 years of experience in aerospace pressure vessel design and development, propellant tanks, pressurant vessels, or COPV systems
- Deep expertise in at least one of: COPV structural design, propellant management device design, or pressure vessel fatigue and life cycle analysis, with strong working knowledge of the others
- Proficiency in FEA for pressure vessel analysis, burst, proof, fatigue, fracture mechanics, using Ansys, Abaqus, or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to manage sub-teams with distinct but coupled design disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with composite overwrap design, fibre selection, winding pattern optimisation, cure process definition
- Familiarity with green propellant compatibility, liner materials, elastomer selection, surface treatment processes
- Experience leading pressure vessel development through proof and burst test campaigns
- Background in relevant pressure vessel standards, ASME BPVC, ECSS-E-ST-32, or equivalent
- Experience with COPV qualification for flight applications
- Familiarity with propellant slosh and its implications for CG and PMD design

What Does Success Look Like Success is a tank system whose structural integrity, propellant management, and thermal performance are demonstrated together through proof and burst test campaigns. You will be accountable for integrating PMD and Structures & Thermal work across the coupled diaphragm and bladder interfaces, with DFM and test campaign understanding embedded across both sub-teams.
