This role plays a key part in protecting powertrain functions against cyber threats while ensuring compliance with global automotive cybersecurity regulations across the product lifecycle.

About the Role

We are looking for an Automotive Cyber Security Lead Engineer – Powertrain ECUs to lead cybersecurity engineering for safety‑critical ICE, Hybrid, and Electric powertrain systems. This role plays a key part in protecting powertrain functions against cyber threats while ensuring compliance with global automotive cybersecurity regulations across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Lead cybersecurity engineering for powertrain ECUs (Engine ECU, VCU, MCU, BMS, HCU, OCDC, etc.)
Own cybersecurity activities for assigned powertrain programs
Define and review secure architectures (Secure Boot, Secure Communication, OTA, Key Management)
Perform and lead TARA as per ISO/SAE 21434




Define cybersecurity goals, requirements, and mitigations
Align cybersecurity with Functional Safety (ISO 26262)
Ensure compliance with UNECE R155 / AIS 189 and UNECE R156 / AIS 190
Collaborate with system, software, hardware, validation teams, and suppliers
Lead technical cybersecurity reviews and mentor engineers
Support vulnerability management, incident response, and post‑SOP activities

Qualifications

BE / ME in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Automotive, Computer Science, or Cyber Security

Required Skills

7–12+ years in automotive embedded or powertrain systems
3–6+ years of hands‑on automotive cybersecurity experience
CAN, CAN‑FD, Automotive Ethernet, UDS
Cryptography, PKI, Secure Boot, HSM, Secure Diagnostics
OTA/FOTA security & backend interaction
Solid leadership, ownership mindset & mentoring skills
