Accounts Receivable (AR) Team Lead Revenue Cycle Management
Job Summary The AR Team Lead is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Receivable team within the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) function. This role ensures timely follow-up on outstanding insurance and patient accounts, drives collections, monitors team performance, and ensures compliance with client and regulatory requirements while achieving productivity and quality goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of AR Associates/Analysts to achieve operational targets.
- Allocate work, monitor productivity, and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Review aging reports and prioritize high-value or critical accounts for follow-up.
- Ensure timely follow-up with insurance payers on unpaid or underpaid claims.
- Analyze and resolve claim denials, payment variances, and reimbursement issues.
- Escalate complex payer issues and coordinate with internal teams for resolution.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as AR aging, collection rate, denial rate, productivity, and quality.
- Conduct regular quality audits and provide coaching and feedback to team members.
- Train, mentor, and develop current and existing team members.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for management.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance collections and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, client-specific guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Billing, Coding, Cash Posting, and Client Services, to resolve revenue cycle issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline (preferred).
- 5-8 years of experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management.
- Minimum 1- 2 years of experience leading an AR team.
- Strong understanding of AR follow-up, denial management, appeals, and payer guidelines.
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and RCM applications.
- Excellent analytical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage team performance and motivate employees.
- Experience in process improvement and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.
