Role Description PostgreSQL Database Administrator Role Overview We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The role focuses on ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of PostgreSQL databases across on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate should have strong production support experience, hands-on PostgreSQL administration skills, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and database optimization.

Key Responsibilities Production Support & Incident Management

- Monitor and support PostgreSQL production environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues such as connection pool exhaustion, locking/blocking, replication lag, authentication failures, and performance bottlenecks.
- Own critical database incidents and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Work closely with application and infrastructure teams during issue resolution.

Database Administration & Performance

- Monitor and optimize database performance and SQL queries.
- Perform routine maintenance including VACUUM, VACUUM FULL, vacuumlo, ANALYZE, and autovacuum tuning.
- Configure and manage backups, restores, and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
- Administer PostgreSQL across Development, Staging,



and Production environments.
- Perform PostgreSQL version upgrades and cross-database migrations.
- Configure and maintain High Availability (HA), Streaming Replication, and Logical Replication.
- Manage connection pooling using PgBouncer.
- Support schema reviews, database refreshes, and table partitioning.

Environment Support

- Manage PostgreSQL deployments on self-managed Linux (On-Premises) and Google Cloud SQL (GCP).

Required Skills & Experience

- Hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator.
- Solid experience in PostgreSQL production support, version upgrades, and database migrations.
- Good understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, MVCC, WAL, and system catalogs.
- Hands-on Linux administration, Bash scripting, and OS-level performance monitoring.
- Experience with backup and recovery tools such as pg_dump, pg_restore, pg_basebackup, or pgBackRest.
- Experience with Streaming Replication and Logical Replication.
- Hands-on experience with PgBouncer and PostgreSQL extensions such as pg_stat_statements, pg_cron, and pg_partman.
- Basic knowledge of Git/GitLab.
