Experience: Minimum 5 years in database administration, with solid hands-on PostgreSQL experience

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to manage and optimize our PostgreSQL database environments supporting mission-critical applications. The role also involves secondary support for MS SQL Server/MySQL and requires strong working knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) practices.

Responsibilities

- Install, configure, and administer PostgreSQL databases across dev, test, and production environments.
- Monitor and tune database performance, query optimization, indexing, VACUUM/ANALYZE, and resource utilization.
- Design and manage HADR setups: streaming/logical replication, Patroni/repmgr/pgpool-II, failover, RTO/RPO, and DR drills.
- Implement backup and recovery strategies (pg_dump, pg_basebackup, pgBackRest/Barman, PITR) and validate through periodic restore tests.
- Ensure database security:



role-based access control, encryption, patching, and compliance with security guidelines.
- Provide secondary administration and support for MS SQL Server / MySQL installation, backup/restore, replication, and troubleshooting.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and maintain documentation of configurations, SOPs, and change records.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and security teams for deployments, migrations, and issue resolution.

Key Competencies:

- 5+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of HADR concepts: replication, clustering, failover/switchover, RTO/RPO.
- Proficiency in backup/recovery tools, SQL query tuning, and connection pooling (PgBouncer).
- Basic scripting (Shell/Python) and Linux server administration; cloud database exposure (AWS RDS/Azure) is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (PostgreSQL Certified Professional, Azure/MySQL DBA) preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-coordination skills.
