Job Area:
Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Systems Engineering
General Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Modem Performance Modeling Engineer to join our team, focusing on 5G and upcoming 6G modem performance. As a Modem Performance Lead, you will be responsible for driving performance analysis and optimization for advanced cellular modem systems (4G, 5G and upcoming 6G) across multiple generations of SoCs. This role involves close collaboration with hardware, software, and system teams to ensure modem KPIs (latency, throughput, power efficiency) meet product and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead modem performance activities for multi-RAT (LTE, 5G NR) cellular modems from design through commercialization.
Analyze and optimize modem KPIs (throughput, latency, power consumption) across various use cases and concurrency scenarios.
Work with architecture teams to define performance requirements and influence design decisions for optimal power/performance trade-offs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HW, SW, Systems) to validate modem performance in pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
Develop and maintain performance models and dashboards for modem subsystems.
Provide technical leadership in debugging performance bottlenecks and proposing solutions.
Some of the key skills which are required (2-3 key skills will be key):
Strong understanding of cellular modem architecture and 3GPP standards (LTE, 5G NR).
Hands-on experience with performance modeling, simulation tools, and KPI analysis.
Knowledge of QoS tuning and modem concurrency optimization.
Experience with pre-silicon validation platforms (TLM, RUMI, Emulation).
Proficiency in scripting (Python, Perl) for automation and data analysis is desirable.
Familiarity with SoC interconnects, memory subsystems, and concurrency impacts.
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills in complex HW/SW environments.
Ability to work in a
