: Principal Patent Attorney – MedTech & Medical Devices

Role Summary

We are seeking a Principal Patent Attorney to lead IP strategy for our Medical Devices and MedTech portfolio, covering diagnostic & Therapy devices, implantable, digital health, and connected medical technologies. The role will support R&D;, engineering, and regulatory teams to secure robust IP protection and enable innovation-led growth.

Key Responsibilities

MedTech IP Strategy

- Develop and execute IP strategies for medical devices and digital health technologies
- Support product lifecycle management, design protection, and regulatory-linked IP strategy
- Advise engineering teams on patentability and innovation capture

Patent Drafting & Prosecution
- Draft and prosecute patents in medical devices, diagnostics & Therapy, imaging systems, digital health, AI/ML solutions, and electromechanical systems
- Handle FER responses, claim amendments, and IPO hearings
- Manage PCT filings and global prosecution strategy

FTO & Risk Advisory
- Conduct Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) analysis for all new products and features developed by the Med Tech teams
- Provide infringement, validity, and design-around strategies
- Support product development and market entry decisions

Oppositions & Litigation Support
- Manage pre- and post-grant opposition proceedings




- Provide technical and legal support in litigation matters
- Coordinate with external counsel and experts

Competitive Intelligence
- Conduct patent landscape analysis in MedTech and digital health
- Track competitor technologies, filings, and innovation trends
- Identify white-space opportunities and potential risks

Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D;, engineering, regulatory, and product teams
- Support partnerships, licensing, and technology collaborations
- Align IP strategy with product roadmaps and regulatory timelines

Candidate Profile
- 8-10 years of IP experience in medical devices / engineering / electronics domains
- Strong expertise in Indian patent law, prosecution, and oppositions
- Experience in FTO, portfolio strategy, and device innovation IP
- Ability to work across multidisciplinary technologies

Preferred Background
- Experience in MedTech companies or leading IP firms
- Registered Patent Agent (India) + LLB
- Exposure to global patent systems (US, EP, PCT)
- Technical background in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical, or related fields
