Patent Attorney (Biosimilars/Biopharma) / Patent Associate / Patent Consultant (Pharma) - 4 Openings
Registered Patent Attorney / Patent Agent / Patent Attorney qualification is required
OBJECTIVE OF THE FUNCTION:
Coordinate the necessary Intellectual Property activities within assigned scope to provide optimum support to all Business Units in handling patent matters related to:
- Pharmaceutical patent matters, including products and technologies related to parenteral and enteral nutrition
- Patent landscaping, patent drafting, patent invalidation and freedom to operate analysis
- Conduct comprehensive patent landscape analyses for pharmaceutical products and their therapeutic indications, including enteral and parenteral nutrition
- Supporting strategic market entry decisions for global initiatives
- Retrieve and evaluate patent data from specialized databases
- Perform Freedom to Operate (FTO) searches and prepare detailed evaluation reports to assess potential risks and opportunities
- Manage pharmaceutical patent matters, including parenteral and enteral nutrition portfolios, encompassing filing and prosecution of patent applications arising from scientific innovation

Function in the company:
Main tasks:
- Conduct comprehensive prior art searches using various databases (Boolean logic, AI- powered tools), and screen relevant documents
- Prepare detailed patent landscapes
- Provide insights on earliest possible global market launch timelines based on patent evaluations.
- Manage pharmaceutical patent matters, including parenteral and enteral nutrition, encompassing composition, processes, impurities, and other technical aspects.
- Patentability analysis, Patent application drafting, filing, prosecution and maintenance.
- Identify prior art to establish invalidation grounds and drafting and filing oppositions for critical or blocking patents.
- Maintain accurate documentation and organize project-related files for ongoing and completed IP activities.
- Perform Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) searches and deliver comprehensive evaluation reports.
- Advise R&D; teams on patent circumvention strategies to enable innovation within legal boundaries.
- Provide IP support to cross-functional teams including Portfolio Management, R&D;, Project Management, and Regulatory Affairs.
- Monitor and report on IP updates, competitive intelligence, and relevant regulatory developments.
Secondary tasks:
- Periodic Updates of patent Landscape for current Patents/Applications and patent portfolio
- Communications with the EU and US patent teams and external counsels on various matters
- Any additional responsibility as deemed necessary
Business Contacts:
- Internal Patent Attorneys, Scientists, Global Alliance Management
- Extern Outside counsels from various countries
Qualification and work experience:
- Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Intellectual Property (IP) in pharmaceutical industry
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Hands-on experience in preparing reports using MS Excel and creating PowerPoint
- Patent Agent and/or Patent Attorney qualification is preferred.
- Experience in AI is beneficial
Requirements / Knowledge to fulfil the position:
- Knowledge of patent law including the concepts of novelty and inventive step in several jurisdictions.
- Skilled in infringement/invalidity analysis, FTO, filing & prosecution, market launch analysis
- Exposure to work with IT tools
