Job Purpose

The Senior SAN Storage Engineer provides technical skills that cover a broad range of disciplines and/or a particular technical discipline that is of significance to HCA. Perform any technical project assigned with minimal supervision. Identify, investigate, evaluate, and become proficient in current technologies and technical disciplines that are of significance to HCA Healthcare.

The Senior PowerScale Storage Engineer serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) responsible for the enterprise-wide architecture support, engineering, performance optimization,



and operational stability of Dell PowerScale (Isilon) scale-out NAS environments. Operating with minimal supervision, this role leads complex storage initiatives, executes non-disruptive cluster expansions, drives storage remediation, and develops automation to streamline unstructured data management across multi-site environments.

Primary duties include serving as the highest technical escalation point for critical incidents, designing disaster recovery strategies (SyncIQ), managing multi-protocol file access (SMB, NFS, S3), and conducting deep-dive capacity trending and array analytics. The Senior Engineer collaborates closely with enterprise architects, security teams, and cross-platform leads (VMware, Linux, Windows, Cloud) to align storage capabilities with business needs, enforce data governance (SmartLock, SmartQuotas), and mentor junior administration staff.
