About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our state-of-the-art Global Capability Center in Pune. This role is pivotal in supporting Mizuho Americas’ IT operations within our Technology Operations Center (TOC), which functions as a mission control hub delivering real-time visibility, proactive incident management, and automation across critical infrastructure and applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Level 1 support for SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of our database environments.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, 24x7 operational team supporting a major investment bank, contributing to operational excellence and continuous technological innovation.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SQL Server administration, with proven experience supporting complex database environments. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Foundational certifications such as Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL fundamentals are preferred.

Candidates should demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills, effective communication abilities in English,



and a commitment to operational discipline. Relevant experience in multinational companies, familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure, and knowledge of ITIL processes are highly desirable. Professional certifications and prior experience working in high-availability environments or 24x7 command centers will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities Serve as the MSSQL DBA mission specialist within the Technology Operations Center, leading Level 1 support for service alerts and incidents related to SQL Server platforms.

Manage rotating shifts on a 24x7x365 basis, including early, late, and overnight shifts, ensuring continuous support and incident response.

Follow operational runbooks meticulously, adhering to all policies, procedures, and controls while handling alerts and incidents promptly and professionally.

Act as the first responder for SQL Server incidents, aiming for rapid recovery, root cause analysis, and effective resolution.

Collaborate with US Infrastructure senior teams for incident review, process improvements, and updates to operational runbooks.

Maintain detailed incident documentation, ensuring accurate notes, clear shift handovers, and comprehensive reporting.

Mentor junior team members and share knowledge to foster a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.

Identify opportunities for improving SLA adherence, incident reduction, and operational efficiency through ongoing service health assessments.

Perform routine database maintenance tasks,



including backups, restores, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of common issues such as indexing and storage growth.

Lead in-depth analysis of recurring incidents and unresolved performance bottlenecks, proposing and implementing effective solutions.

Utilize T-SQL scripting for troubleshooting and support activities, ensuring database health and optimal performance.

Support and execute support and recovery procedures, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
