Electrical Instructor

The College of St Joseph the Worker forms students in both the academic and manual trades, aiming for excellence in both to redeem all things in Christ. We are seeking an Electrical Instructor (EI) who will support the Master Electrician in training apprentices primarily through classroom instruction. This position is curriculum-focused, working directly with students in the areas of code instruction, lab exercises, and lesson planning.

Position Summary

The Electrical Instructor is a full-time faculty member responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the NCCER Electrical curriculum, fostering excellence in technical competency, safety, professionalism, and moral character. This role is critical to the formation of the next generation of master craftsmen who view their work as a vocation ordered toward the common valuable and the glory of God. Providing mentorship to these apprentices, and supporting their on-the job training (OJT) will be an integral part of this position’s role at the College.

Key Responsibilities





Teach NCCER Electrical levels (e.g., Levels 1–4), covering applied electrical theory, National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance, residential/commercial/industrial wiring, safe work practices, blueprint reading, electrical systems installation, troubleshooting, and related topics.
Develop and deliver engaging lessons, practical demonstrations, hands-on labs, and assessments aligned with NCCER standards and college objectives.
Oversee and mentor student apprentices, integrating their field experiences into the curriculum.
Coordinate with the Master Electrician and other trades faculty to ensure integrated, progressive training experiences that build student skills from foundational to advanced levels.
Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped training environment (labs and classrooms), including inventory of tools/materials and adherence to OSHA/NCCER safety guidelines.
Assess student performance through practical eval
