Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced Director, Market Risk Production Support to lead the operational stability, reliability, and service delivery of the firm's mission-critical Market Risk technology platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, governance, and supportability of systems supporting Value at Risk (VaR), FRTB, Stress Testing, Sensitivities, Market Data Management, Limits Monitoring, and Regulatory Reporting.
This is a senior role requiring deep expertise in Market Risk systems, production support operations, ITIL processes, SRE principles, and large-scale technology environments. The individual will lead L2/L3 support teams, act as the senior escalation point for critical production incidents, and drive continuous improvement through automation, observability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities: Functional & Business Support Provide leadership and oversight for production support for Market Risk platforms supporting VaR, FRTB, Stress Testing, Sensitivities, Market Data Management, Limits Monitoring, and Regulatory Reporting.
Ensure successful execution of critical overnight and end-of-day (EOD) processing with minimal business disruption.
Partner with Risk, Finance, Front Office, and Technology stakeholders to ensure platform stability, business continuity, and successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
Support platform modernization, migrations, and production readiness activities.
Production
Support & Operational Excellence Lead global L2/L3 support teams operating in a follow-the-sun support model.
Serve as the senior escalation point for business-critical incidents and production issues.
Drive operational stability, system performance, governance, and control frameworks across the production estate.
Own Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes using ServiceNow and ensure adherence to ITIL best practices.
Lead Major Incident Management, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), remediation planning, and tracking through issue closure.
Implement SRE practices,
reduce operational toil, automate manual processes, and enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting capabilities.
Drive process improvements, operational standardization, and knowledge-sharing frameworks across the support organization. Technical & Platform Support Manage and support complex overnight batch processing utilizing enterprise schedulers (Tidal, Airflow, Control-M, and Autosys).
Provide support for platforms leveraging SQL, Python, SQL Server, SSIS, Databricks, Data Pipelines, ETL/ELT, Power BI, and Azure services.
Troubleshoot complex application, infrastructure, database, and integration issues across distributed environments.
Support Unix/Linux, Windows, infrastructure operations, capacity management, monitoring, and platform reliability.
Coordinate with development, infrastructure, and release management teams for deployments, patching, performance tuning, and operational readiness activities.
Service
Delivery & Stakeholder Management Ensure high-quality service delivery, timely issue resolution, and continuous improvement of production support processes.
Provide executive-level status reporting and communications to senior business and technology stakeholders.
Work closely with Infrastructure and Engineering teams to maintain platform availability and resilience.
Plan and support production events including releases, BCM/DR exercises, patching, maintenance activities, and post-go-live stabilization.
Demonstrate strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Operational
Leadership & Governance Build, mentor, and lead high-performing global production support teams, fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous learning. Define and execute the strategic roadmap for Market Risk production support, including automation, observability, resiliency, and service modernization initiatives. Establish and monitor operational KPIs, SLAs, SLOs, control metrics, and risk indicators to ensure service quality and platform stability.
Drive operational cost optimization through process simplification, automation, and platform rationalization. Partner with senior Risk, Technology, and Business leadership to align support strategy with organizational priorities and regulatory requirements.
Lead organizational transformation initiatives, talent development, succession planning, and capability building across the support function.
Promote a culture of proactive risk management, control excellence, and continuous improvement across the production support organization.
Lead audit, regulatory, risk-control, and compliance-related activities for Market Risk production platforms, ensuring adherence to internal control standards and governance expectations.
Required Skills & Experience: Deep Market Risk domain expertise covering VaR, FRTB, Stress Testing, Sensitivities, Market Data, Limits Monitoring, and Regulatory Reporting.
Strong experience in ITIL Service Management (Incident, Problem, Change Management) and production support leadership within Financial Services.
Hands-on knowledge of SQL, Python, SQL Server, SSIS, Databricks, ETL/ELT, Data Pipelines, Power BI, Azure, and enterprise scheduling tools.
Experience implementing SRE, automation, observability, monitoring, and operational excellence practices.
Proven experience leading global support organizations and managing senior business and technology stakeholders.
Experience supporting large-scale, business-critical platforms with stringent RTO/RPO, SLA, and availability requirements.
Excellent communication, decision-making, troubleshooting, and people leadership skills.
