Join our professional marine engineering team as a Third Engineer on board our fleet of vessels. This role supports the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and technical readiness of propulsion, auxiliary machinery, and shipboard systems. The Third Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and Head of Engine Department, carry out routine and planned maintenance tasks, assist during watchstanding and operations, and contribute to the vessel’s compliance with international and company technical and safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities for Third Engineer - machinery operation, maintenance, safety
The role of the Second Engineer is to assist the 2nd Engineer and the First Engineer in the safe and efficient management of the Engine Department.
The Third Engineer responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Being responsible for the maintenance of machinery and equipment as delegated and carrying out maintenance work under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
Maintaining an engine room watch as directed by the Chief Engineer.
Maintaining an inventory of all spare gear and consumables.
Any additional duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
If the ship does not have an Electrician, the electrician responsibilities are assigned to the Third Engineer.
Required Qualifications - engineering certification, experience, fitness
Certificate of Competency as per STCW reg III/2
STCW endorsements
Valid Medical certificate.
Preferred Skills - specialized systems, troubleshooting, leadership
Experience with marine gas turbines, controllable pitch propellers, shaft generators, or electronic engine management systems is advantageous.
Training or certification in advanced engine diagnostics, high-voltage awareness, refrigeration/HVAC systems, or hydraulic systems maintenance is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), electronic logbooks, and diagnostic tools to support effective maintenance planning and execution.
