Position
Overview The Lab Assistant will maintain and manage practical laboratory sessions for Allied Healthcare programs. The successful candidate will ensure smooth day-to-day lab operations, maintain equipment, prepare chemical reagents/samples for practical sessions, enforce laboratory safety protocols, and assist faculty members during practical training for undergraduate students. Key Responsibilities

Laboratory
Preparation & Technical Support
Prepare reagents, solutions, chemicals, stains, specimen trays, and equipment prior to daily practical sessions and clinical skill labs.
Assist faculty during practical classes, student demonstrations, and university examinations.
Calibrate, test, and maintain diagnostic and analytical laboratory equipment (e.g., microscopes, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, autoclaves, analyzers).

Inventory
Management & Stock Maintenance
Maintain logbooks, stock registers, equipment usage records, and breakage registers.
Perform regular audits of laboratory consumables, chemicals, glasswares, and PPE; raise purchase requisitions for timely restocking.
Inspect incoming lab supplies and ensure proper storage according to material safety guidelines (MSDS).
- Safety, Hygiene & Quality Control
Enforce strict laboratory safety guidelines, personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance, and biohazard waste disposal protocols (BMW guidelines).
Ensure regular sterilization, disinfection, and cleaning of laboratory benches, instruments, and glassware.
Report equipment breakdowns, hazards, or safety concerns immediately to the Lab In-Charge or HOD.
- Administrative & Academic Assistance
Maintain student attendance records for practical classes and lab sessions.
Coordinate routine preventative maintenance (AMC) and calibration schedules with equipment vendors.
Support department events, workshops, accreditation documentations (NAAC/UGC), and practical exam setups.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (B.Sc. MLT / B.MLS), B.Sc. in Microbiology / Biochemistry / Anatomy / Pathology / Life Sciences, or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) from a recognized institution. Experience:
1–3 years of hands-on experience as a Lab Assistant or Lab Technician in an academic university lab, clinical diagnostic lab, or hospital setting. Freshers with exceptional academic records may also apply.
Skills & Competencies
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in standard laboratory techniques (pipetting, reagent preparation, slide staining, autoclaving, basic equipment operation).
Safety Awareness: Sound understanding of Biomedical Waste Management (BMWM) rules and bio-safety protocols.
Organization: Strong inventory management skills and record-keeping ability.
Communication: Valuable verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi/Marathi.
Computer Literacy: Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word) for inventory tracking and log generation. How to apply:
