Role Overview
Database SRE is responsible for leading and scaling the Database Operations and Engineering under Site Reliability Engineering function, ensuring the reliability, security, performance, and availability of enterprise database platforms supporting critical business services.
This role combines technical leadership, people management, and platform ownership, driving the adoption of SRE principles, automation,
and cloud‑native database practices across both commercial and open‑source database technologies. The Manager Database SRE sets the strategic vision for database reliability and operational excellence, while partnering closely with application, cloud, security, and architecture teams.
The role has a main focus on Oracle, Postgres, Mongo and SQL databases, with growing responsibility for open‑source and cloud‑native databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL platforms.
Leadership & People Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Lead and Senior Database SREs, encouraging a high‑performance and innovating culture.
Set transparent goals, expectations, and career development plans for team members.
Promote SRE standard processes, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team.
Act as a critical issue contact for sophisticated operational and organisational challenges.
