Summary:
The Pediatric Psycho-Oncology Program (PPOP) Coordinator plays a pivotal role in advancing the emotional and psychological well-being of children and families affected by cancer. This position is central to designing, implementing, and sustaining a comprehensive, multidisciplinary psychological support system across clinical and community settings. The role ensures holistic care through individual and group interventions, expressive therapies, child life support, and psycho-education, while driving research, capacity building, and program evaluation. The Coordinator serves as a key liaison within healthcare teams and external networks, promoting resilience, coping, and quality of life throughout the cancer journey—from diagnosis to palliative care and bereavement. The position is essential in fostering a compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centered care setting.
Responsibilities:
Plan and implement the Pediatric Psycho-Oncology Program (PPOP), including protocols, policies, and administrative frameworks.
Coordinate psychological services across hospitals, clinics,
and tele-consultation platforms.
Deliver face-to-face, online, and telephonic psychological interventions and assessments using psychometric tools, interviews, and observations.
Provide therapy and counseling across all treatment phases: diagnosis, treatment, relapse, palliative care, and bereavement.
Develop individualized treatment plans, monitor progress, and conduct follow-ups with referrals and multidisciplinary coordination.
Lead Sharing & Caring Sessions for parents and medical teams, and implement expressive therapies (play, art, music, storytelling, relaxation, clown therapy).
Deliver non-pharmacological procedural pain interventions.
Promote child-friendly environments through libraries, wish-granting activities, and child life interventions.
Conduct psycho-education sessions for patients and parents on stress management, behavioral challenges, and coping strategies.
