Headliner (Roof Trim) Lead Engineer/ Headliner Design Engineer

IMMEDIATE JOINERS ONLY REQUIRED

Key Responsibilities

· Design and develop Headliner (Roof Trim) systems, including substrates, fabric wrapping, reinforcements, and integration with roof systems.

· Create 3D models and 2D drawings using UGNX, ensuring design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA). Coordinate with Gurgaon facility and Pune Design Center

· Define and manage interfaces with roof structure, sunroof systems, grab handles, dome lamps, airbags, wiring harness, and accessories.

· Work on headliner construction types such as hardboard, softboard, injection molded, or composite structures.

· Manage design data, BOM, and releases using Teamcenter.

· Collaborate with CAE, manufacturing, supplier, and quality teams for design validation, tooling feasibility, and cost optimization.

· Conduct design reviews, tolerance stack-up analysis, and gap & flush validation.

· Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements (e.g., head impact, flammability, NVH, and thermal performance).

· Support prototype development, testing, and issue resolution during vehicle builds.





· Coordinate with suppliers for tooling development, part maturation, and PPAP activities. .

Role Expectations (Based on Level):

· Lead Engineer: End-to-end ownership of headliner system, program management, customer interaction, and team mentoring.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

· 4–9 years of relevant experience in automotive interior trim design with robust focus on Headliner systems.

· Strong understanding of headliner architecture, materials (PU foam, glass fiber, natural fiber, fabric), and manufacturing processes.

· Proficiency in UGNX (NX CAD) for 3D modeling and detailing.

· Experience with Teamcenter for PLM and data management.

· Knowledge of Team Center (must) and other PLM added advantage.

· Good understanding of safety standards, regulatory requirements, and validation methods for roof trim systems.

· Experience in program management, supplier handling, and cross-functional leadership.

· Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
