Thekabarnews.com —Indonesia still has two players competing in the women’s doubles draw at the 2026 National Bank Open in Toronto. This comes after Janice Tjen exited the WTA 1000 tournament’s singles competition.

Aldila Sutjiadi will partner Current Zealand’s Erin Routliffe, while Tjen will continue her campaign alongside Poland’s Katarzyna Piter.

The tournament runs from August 1 to 13 on Toronto’s outdoor hard courts. It offers a total prize pool of more than US$7.43 million.

Tjen narrowly lost her opening singles match to Liudmila Samsonova 6-7(9), 5-7 in the round of 128. Samsonova then defeated 22nd seed Barbora Krejcikova 6-1, 7-5 to reach the third round. This information is as quoted by the official WTA singles draw.

Despite the singles defeat, Tjen remained active in Toronto’s doubles competition. The tournament scheduled Tjen and Piter to face Australia’s Storm Hunter and American Desirae Krawczyk in the first round on Thursday, August 6. This is according to the official order of play.

Aldila and Routliffe face a difficult opening assignment against fourth seeds Guo Hanyu of China and Kristina Mladenovic of France.

Guo and Mladenovic enter Toronto as the reigning Wimbledon champions. They captured their first Grand Slam title as a team in July. They have established themselves as one of the leading partnerships on the women’s doubles circuit.

The Toronto organizers officially included Routliffe and Aldila among the tournament’s confirmed doubles teams. Their partnership arrives in Canada with strong momentum after winning the WTA 500 Mubadala DC Open in Washington.





The second-seeded pair defeated Andreja Klepac and Makoto Ninomiya 6-4, 6-1 in the Washington final. Aldila and Routliffe completed the tournament without dropping a set. They won four consecutive matches in straight sets, according to the official Washington doubles draw.

The Washington championship delivered 500 ranking points and lifted Aldila 10 places in the WTA doubles standings.

The official WTA rankings dated August 3 placed Aldila at No. 27 with 2,676 points, up from No. 37. Routliffe climbed three positions to No. 9 with 4,837 points.

Tjen also rose five places to No. 39 after reaching the Washington semifinals with Zhang Shuai. That run ended against Klepac and Ninomiya in a deciding match tiebreak.

Indonesia still has two routes through the Toronto doubles draw. Aldila brings championship form into a demanding first-round meeting with the Wimbledon titleholders. Tjen has another opportunity to advance after her closely contested singles loss.
