Database DevOps & Release Engineer
So, what’s the role all about?
We're hiring a Database DevOps & Release Engineer for our Data Engineering and Database Operations team. This role goes beyond traditional DBA work: you'll need strong SQL and T-SQL skills, working knowledge of DevOps and GitOps principles, and ownership of how database changes get built, reviewed, packaged, and deployed.
You'll review and approve pull requests for database changes, package those changes (DDL, stored procedures, functions, and CLR/assembly changes) into deployable artifacts using DACPAC, SLN, and manifest files, and build and manage the CI/CD pipelines that deploy them alongside production application code. You'll also handle database support for our lower and lab environments, so replication,
high availability, and backup/restore skills matter as much as your DevOps background.
How will you make an impact?
Review and approve pull requests for database changes, ensuring code quality, standards, and deployability before merge.
Package database changes (DDL, stored procedures, functions, and CLR/assembly changes) into deployable artifacts using DACPAC, SLN, and manifest files.
Build, manage, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database deployments from inception to end of life, using Jenkins and GitHub Actions/Workflows.
Coordinate database deployments so they roll out alongside production application code changes.
Apply GitOps principles to database change management, including branching strategy, pull request workflows, and version-controlled deployment of schema and code changes.
Use Redgate SQL Compare to identify and validate schema changes as part of the deployment and PR review process.
