Lead and institutionalize technical assurance frameworks to validate engineering, surface facilities and operational decisions across the UCG Project lifecycle ensuring risk-informed, compliant and technically sound outcomes aligned with safety, business and scalability objectives. Key Responsibilities:
Define technical assurance frameworks, stage-gate criteria and review protocols across concept, front-end engineering, detailed engineering and operation stages to establish consistent technical evaluation and decision-making standards.
Lead Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across surface facility domains for seamless integration of function-specific technical decision making to support an overall business case maintaining the technical integrity. Review and validate Basis of Design (BoD), engineering deliverables and operational strategies by assessing completeness, assumptions and alignment with business objectives and approve or reject outputs based on defined acceptance criteria.
Conduct integrated technical reviews across gasification process and surface facilities to identify gaps, inconsistencies and risks impacting performance, safety and scalability.
Define and apply risk evaluation frameworks covering safety, technical, operational, commercial and schedule risks. Review risk registers to identify critical uncertainties affecting pilot viability.
Validate outputs from HAZID, HAZOP and other risk assessments and confirm adequacy of mitigation measures and control strategies, which are to be embedded within design and operations.
Evaluate design and operational decisions against business objectives by assessing impacts on cost, timelines, operability and scale-up potential. Recommend corrective actions to address identified risks.
Validate surface assumptions, reservoir models and gasification behavior by cross-checking inputs,
methodologies and outputs to confirm alignment with engineering design and operational strategies.
Review and be responsible along with the SMEs for approving any technical deviations from the standards and international practices. Assess integration between subsurface models and engineering systems to confirm that uncertainties related to permeability, cavity growth and seam behavior are adequately addressed in design and execution plans.
Review commissioning strategies, operating procedures and control philosophies to confirm readiness for safe and stable pilot operations, and validate alignment with design intent and risk controls.
Assess operational performance data, deviations and failure modes to confirm whether system behavior aligns with approved design assumptions and risk mitigation strategies.
Approve or recommend interventions based on performance gaps, emerging risks, or deviations impacting safety, reliability, or business outcomes.
Define acceptance criteria for datasets, models and technical deliverables, and review outputs to confirm quality, traceability, and auditability for decision-making and regulatory submissions.
Validate consistency of data and assumptions across disciplines to eliminate conflicts and strengthen reliability of integrated technical outputs.
Drive identification and evaluation of new technologies, tools, and methodologies for risk assessment, monitoring, and assurance processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency and decision confidence.
Promote adoption of digital tools, simulation platforms,
and advanced analytics to strengthen technical validation and reduce uncertainty in decision-making.
Structure technical authority roles across disciplines, allocate review responsibilities and address capability gaps to strengthen assurance depth and independence.
Drive alignment with engineering, technical support, concept and project controls teams by consolidating review findings and facilitating risk-based decision-making across functions.
Translate regulatory, safety and environmental requirements into assurance criteria and review checkpoints. Validate compliance basis the same across all project stages.
Review regulatory submissions, technical documentation and compliance reports and approve outputs supporting stage-gate decisions and external reporting.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
20+ years of experience in technical assurance, engineering governance or multidisciplinary project reviews within oil & gas, gasification, CBM or similar subsurface-linked projects.
10+ years of Subject Matter Expert (SME) experience in Process, I&C; or Mechanical discipline in Oil & Gas, CBM, Downstream, EPC or any other relevant areas
Strong understanding of subsurface, process engineering and surface facilities integration.
Experience in risk assessment methodologies including HAZID, HAZOP and integrated risk evaluation frameworks.
Ability to evaluate technical decisions across safety, operational, commercial and schedule dimensions.
Familiarity with gasification processes, UCG concepts or analogous technologies.
Exposure to digital tools, modelling platforms and data validation techniques for technical assurance.
Solid capability in structured problem-solving, independent review and decision validation. Interested candidates, kindly mail to
