Role &

- Responsibilities The Head Pharmacy will be responsible for the overall management and operations of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring uninterrupted availability of medicines, regulatory compliance, patient safety, cost optimization, and efficient pharmacy services across the hospital.

Pharmacy Operations

- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of IPD, OPD, Emergency, and OT pharmacies.

- Ensure timely dispensing of medications with accuracy and adherence to prescription protocols.

- Maintain uninterrupted availability of essential medicines and consumables.

- Develop and implement SOPs for all pharmacy functions.

Inventory &

- Supply Chain Management

- Monitor procurement, inventory planning, stock levels, and vendor management.

- Prevent stock-outs, expiry losses, and overstocking through effective inventory control.

- Conduct periodic physical stock verification and reconciliation.

- Coordinate with purchase and finance departments for productive procurement processes.

Regulatory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with the Drugs &
- Cosmetics Act, Pharmacy Act, NABH standards, and other applicable statutory regulations.

- Maintain all pharmacy licenses, documentation,



and statutory records.

- Coordinate inspections by regulatory authorities and accreditation agencies.

Quality &

- Patient Safety

- Implement medication safety initiatives to minimize dispensing errors.

- Monitor adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and medication incident reporting.

- Ensure proper storage conditions, temperature monitoring, and handling of medicines.

- Promote rational drug use and patient counseling whenever required.

Team Leadership

- Lead, supervise, and mentor pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and store personnel.

- Prepare duty rosters and manage manpower planning.

- Conduct regular training programs and competency assessments.

- Drive employee engagement and performance management.

Financial Management

- Monitor pharmacy revenue, profitability, and operating costs.

- Analyze pharmacy KPIs and prepare monthly MIS reports.

- Optimize procurement costs through effective vendor negotiations.

- Ensure accurate billing and inventory valuation.
