The Global Perspectives and Social Studies Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, inquiry-based lessons that develop students' critical thinking, research, communication, and analytical skills while fostering an understanding of history, geography, civics, economics, and contemporary global issues. The teacher encourages students to become informed, responsible, and compassionate global citizens by exploring diverse perspectives and making meaningful connections between local and international contexts.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in Global Perspectives and Social Studies aligned with the school's curriculum and international standards.
- Foster inquiry-based, student-centered learning that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Teach key concepts in history, geography, civics, economics, culture, sustainability, and global issues.
- Guide students in conducting independent and collaborative research projects using reliable sources.
- Encourage respectful discussion, debate, and evaluation of multiple viewpoints on local, national, and international issues.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.
- Integrate technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.
Assessment and Student Progress
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments aligned with curriculum objectives.
- Assess student learning using appropriate rubrics and assessment criteria.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Prepare progress reports and communicate student achievement effectively with parents and school leadership.
Classroom Management
- Establish a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour, collaboration, and active participation.
- Encourage curiosity, independent thinking, and lifelong learning.
Skilled Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Participate in curriculum planning, staff meetings, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
- Support extracurricular activities such as debates, Model United Nations (MUN), community service projects, geography/history clubs, or student leadership programmes.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.
- Stay current with educational research, curriculum developments, and best practices in Global Perspectives and Social Studies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, History, Geography, Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, or a related field.
- B.Ed., PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Global Perspectives, Social Studies, or Humanities in an international or national curriculum is preferred.
- Familiarity with Cambridge Global Perspectives and Social Studies/Humanities curricula is an advantage.

Preferred Experience
- 2–5 years of classroom teaching experience.
- Experience with Cambridge Global Perspectives, Cambridge Lower Secondary, IGCSE Humanities, IB MYP Individuals and Societies, or equivalent curricula.
- Experience organizing debates, research projects, field trips, MUN, or community engagement programmes.
