Role & responsibilities
1. Portfolio Governance & Strategic Execution
- Provide executive leadership to multiple Site Heads, and project management team.
- Establish robust project governance models, master execution schedules (MS project / Primavera P6), and resource optimization frameworks.
- Monitor cross-portfolio performance metrics, proactively mitigate critical path delays, and deploy crisis-management strategies for complex site issues.
- Take full financial accountability for execution phases, managing multi-billion dollar budgets, optimizing cash flows, and protecting project gross margins.
2. Sector-Specific Execution Oversight
- Industrial & Infrastructure: Oversee large-scale civil works, structural steel erection, heavy equipment foundations, and complex plant layouts for manufacturing or process plants.
- Oil & Gas (Onshore/Offshore): Manage high-stakes cross-country pipelining, refinery units, petrochemical processing setups, or storage terminals with strict adherence to API standards.
- Thermal Power Plants: Supervise the construction, erection, and commissioning of super-critical boilers, steam turbines, generators, coal-handling plants, and balance of plant (BOP) systems.
- Solar Power & Renewables: Direct fast-track, large-acreage deployment of multi-megawatt ground-mounted solar farms, tracker installations, Pooling Substations (up to 400kV/765kV), and transmission lines.
3. Contractor Management & High-Stakes Negotiations
- Lead the strategic qualification, selection, and performance monitoring of sub-contractors, specialized vendors, and labor unions.
- Champion contract administration by deploying effective change-order management, resolving complex claims,
and mitigating disputes using FIDIC or customized EPC contract terms.
- Align with Procurement to match engineering-release sequences and factory supply pipelines with actual site erection schedules to prevent costly site delays.
4. HSSE, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance
- Enforce an institutional, zero-compromise Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) culture across all sites, targeting Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI).
- Implement rigorous corporate Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs matching statutory codes (ASME, IEEE, API, IEC) to ensure plant reliability and performance guarantees.
- Direct the team in acquiring critical statutory clearances, environmental clearances, chief electrical inspector (CEIG) approvals, and local administrative permissions.
Preferred candidate profile Technical & Qualified Competencies
- Multi-Disciplinary Technical Literacy: Deep understanding of mechanical piping, heavy civil foundations, high-voltage electrical grid charging, and complex automation/SCADA systems.
- Commercial Strategy: Advanced skills in project finance, risk identification, contract law, variance analysis, and earned value management (EVM).
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional capability to build relationships and interface with central/state ministries, global IPPs, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and regulatory boards.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Portfolio-wide adherence to Scheduled Commercial Operation Dates / Project Milestones.
- Cost variance control (maintaining project execution expenses within or below the approved baseline budget).
- Smooth project closeout, performance guarantee (PG) test clearance, and handover to client O&M; teams.
