Role Summary The Finance Business Partner (CRE) serves as the financial bridge between engineering innovation and commercial execution. Operating within the Central Research & Engineering(CRE) division the strategic heartbeat driving Engine and Genset Manufacturing. You will oversee project capitalization, budgetary controls, and financial transparency across diverse sectors, including Defence, Marine, Railway, Construction, and Current Energy.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning, Reporting & Compliance
- Execute month-end closing activities and manage allocations for all CRE cost
centers.
- Lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for Capex and Opex in coordination with
corporate finance and MIS teams.
- Ensure compliance with Ind AS (specifically regarding Capitalization & Inventory) and
support statutory, cost, and internal audits.
- Assist in generating data for corporate Financial Reporting (FR) and Business
Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR). Project Lifecycle & Cost Evaluation
- Validate cost-reduction projects to ensure savings are verifiable, impactful, and
aligned with organizational goals.
- Review and approve New Asset/Capital Request Forms (NACRF) and Capital
Capex Management & Governance
- Monitor Capital Work-in-Progress (CWIP) in close collaboration with technical and
project leads.
- Establish and formalize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Capex policies
and financial workflows. Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Newly Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
- Experience: Completed article-ship or early-career exposure within manufacturing or industrial engineering sectors.
- Domain Fit: Comfort navigating R& D-heavy environments and interacting with technical engineering teams.
Mandatory Skills & Competencies
- Advanced Excel: High proficiency in financial modeling, AOP building, and MIS tracking.
- ERP Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Oracle ERP.
- Accounting Standards: In-depth knowledge of Ind AS (Capitalization & Inventory focus).
- Analytical Thinking: Strong attention to detail for vetting cost savings and preventing budget slippage.
- Stakeholder Management: Ability to partner with technical leaders and cross- functional teams.
- Process Orientation: Drive to standardize workflows, build SOPs, and enhance data integrity.
