Job Title: Field Service Engineer
Location: Coimbatore.
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented Field Service Engineer to join our Global Customer Support organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting YES semiconductor capital equipment at customer sites worldwide.
This position requires strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, excellent customer communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, international environment. The Field Service Engineer serves as the primary technical representative of YES at customer sites, ensuring maximum equipment uptime, customer satisfaction, and successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, qualify, and start up semiconductor capital equipment at customer facilities.
- Perform equipment acceptance testing, system verification, and functional validation according to YES standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pneumatic, software, and process-related issues.
- Execute preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, upgrades, retrofits, and field modifications.
- Diagnose equipment failures using system logs, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC diagnostics,
and software tools.
- Support customer production by minimizing equipment downtime and restoring systems to full operational capability.
- Perform equipment calibration, alignment, testing, and process verification after service activities.
- Document all service activities, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and customer interactions in the service management system.
- Collaborate with Technical Support, Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Quality teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Escalate recurring issues and provide field feedback to support product reliability improvements and engineering change initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by providing professional, responsive, and high-quality technical support.
- Conduct customer operator and maintenance training on equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all customer safety requirements, company policies, and industry standards while working at customer sites.
- Maintain service tools, calibration equipment, spare parts inventory, and service documentation.
- Participate in on-call support and emergency customer escalations as required.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
- 2–6 years of experience in Field Service, Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Technical Support within semiconductor capital equipment, industrial automation, or precision machinery industries.
- Hands-on experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment is highly preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in: Mechanical systems ,Electrical and electronic systems Vacuum systems , Pneumatic systems ,Motion control systems ,PLCs and industrial automation ,Sensors, actuators, and instrumentation ,
- Ability to read and interpret: Electrical schematics ,Mechanical drawings ,P&IDs; ,Wiring diagrams ,Bills of Materials (BOMs) .
- Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone, or FMEA.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols and automation systems is an advantage.
- Familiarity with ERP, CRM, or Field Service Management systems is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Valid passport and willingness to travel extensively (60–80%) domestically and internationally.
