2-3 years of relevant experience in precision machining / auto components / industrial machinery / hydraulic / transmission / similar engineering industry.

GM – Plant / Head – Supply Chain

Role Purpose To lead technical costing, raw material evaluation, supplier development and cost reduction for precision-machined components. The person should have solid practical knowledge of CNC/VMC/HMC machining, engineering drawings, raw materials, manufacturing processes, tooling and supplier capabilities .

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Costing

- Prepare Should-Cost / Target Cost for precision components.
- Study drawings, GD&T;, tolerances, surface finish and material specifications.
- Calculate RM cost, material yield, machining cycle time, machine-hour rate, tooling, fixture, labour, overhead, heat treatment, grinding and other process costs .
- Validate supplier quotations against technically calculated cost.
- Develop and maintain component-wise costing database .

2. Raw Material & Product Knowledge – Essential

- Strong knowledge of RM used in precision components: C45/EN8, EN19, EN24, 16MnCr5, 20MnCr5, 42CrMo4, EN31, SS304/316/410/420, Aluminium 6061/6082/7075, Brass, Bronze, CI, SG Iron , etc.




- Knowledge of bar, bright bar, forging, casting, plate, tube and other RM forms .
- Ability to determine RM grade, blank size, machining allowance, material yield and RM cost per component from the drawing.
- Understanding of heat treatment and surface treatment requirements.

3. Machining & Process Knowledge

- Strong practical knowledge of CNC Turning, VMC, HMC, milling, drilling, grinding, tapping, broaching and other precision processes .
- Ability to understand process routing, cycle time, machine capacity, tooling, tool life and fixture requirements .
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, operation reduction and cycle-time reduction .

4. Cost Reduction & Negotiation

- Drive VA/VE and annual cost reduction initiatives.
- Negotiate with suppliers based on technical should-cost , not only quoted price.
- Identify savings through RM optimization, process improvement, tooling, cycle-time reduction, alternate suppliers and make-or-buy analysis .

Qualification & Experience B.E./B.Tech./Diploma – Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering

2-3 years of relevant experience in precision machining / auto components / industrial machinery / hydraulic / transmission / similar engineering industry.
