Role & responsibilities
- Explain treatment costs, surgery packages, and billing procedures to patients.
- Counsel patients regarding cataract, LASIK, retina, glaucoma, cornea, pediatric ophthalmology, and other eye care procedures.
- Educate patients about insurance, TPAs, cashless facilities, and government schemes (e.g., PM-JAY/Ayushman Bharat, where applicable).
- Coordinate with consultants, optometrists, OT, billing, and insurance teams to ensure accurate financial information.
- Address patient queries regarding payments, financing options, and documentation.
- Follow up with patients to improve surgery conversions and minimize cancellations.
Preferred candidate profile
- 2 - 5 years of experience as a Financial Counsellor, Surgical Counsellor, or Patient Counsellor.
- Experience in an ophthalmology or eye hospital setting is preferred.
