Cloud Platform Infrastructure Engineer
Role Overview The Cloud Platform Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, building, securing, automating, and operating enterprise-scale Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. This role focuses on cloud infrastructure, networking, security, platform reliability, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD automation, governance, and operational excellence while working closely with customers and internal engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
- Design, build, and configure GCP cloud infrastructure, including projects, folders, organizations, and Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs).
- Provision, manage, optimize, and secure cloud resources and services.
- Define and implement scalable, resilient, and secure platform architectures.
- Oversee cloud, application, and platform architecture across the organization.
Platform Operations & Reliability
- Monitor and maintain platform reliability, availability, and performance.
- Define, track, and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform-wide incidents, outages, and performance issues.
- Support ongoing cloud operations and continuous service improvements.
Security & Governance
- Establish and enforce Identity and Access Management (IAM), RBAC, and security policies.
- Implement cloud security best practices across infrastructure and workloads.
- Secure multi-tenant environments and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Manage secrets, encryption keys, and security controls using Cloud KMS and Secret Manager.
- Define and enforce resource governance policies, quotas, and access controls.
Automation & DevOps
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
- Build reusable infrastructure modules and deployment standards.
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for platform and application teams.
- Enable repeatable deployments through automation and DevOps best practices.
Cost & Capacity Management
- Provide cloud capacity planning and utilization reporting.
- Recommend and implement cost optimization strategies.
- Monitor resource consumption and improve operational efficiency.
Customer Engagement
- Conduct customer workshops, technical deep dives, and architecture discussions.
- Support cloud migration initiatives from assessment through operations.
- Collaborate with customers, engineering teams, and stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more major cloud platforms covering:
- Cloud Infrastructure Design
- Network Architecture Design & Implementation
- Cloud Security
- Logging & Monitoring
- Minimum 2 years of customer-facing experience involving:
- Technical troubleshooting
- Customer engagement
- Collaboration with engineering, sales, and customer teams
- Experience in cloud migration projects, including:
- Discovery
- Assessment
- Planning
- Migration Execution
- Operational Support
Required Certifications Candidates must possess at least one of the following Google Cloud Professional Certifications:
1. Professional Cloud Architect (PCA)
2. Professional Cloud Security Engineer (PCSE)
3. Professional Cloud Network Engineer (PCNE)
Preferred Candidate Profile A successful candidate will:
- Have strong GCP infrastructure and security expertise.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience with Terraform and CI/CD automation.
- Possess deep networking knowledge across cloud environments.
- Be capable of operating highly available cloud platforms at scale.
- Have experience delivering customer-facing cloud transformation and migration engagements.
- Hold at least one relevant Google Cloud Professional certification.
