Step Into the World of Nicobar
Founded in 2016 by Simran Lal and Raul Rai, Nicobar is a modern, mindful, design-led lifestyle brand from India.
“We wanted to create a new Indian sensibility that wasn’t necessarily Westernised.”
We’re reimagining a contemporary Indian way of living, dressing, and looking at the world—rooted in culture, shaped by design, and guided by intention. At Nicobar, we believe in culture as much as commerce, and that how we build is just as important as what we build.
Our studio is tucked away in Tulsi Farms, Chhatarpur, Delhi. Nestled among trees, seasonal gardens, a citrus grove, and our beloved dogs Nico & Dot, we call it “the Treehouse.” It earned its name when our architect reworked the blueprint to protect every single tree on the land. It’s a space where creativity brims and energy flows.
If you’re drawn to thoughtful design, a youthful and nourishing team culture, and the chance to grow a brand with heart—we’d love to hear from you.

Your Role in the Story
You are the commercial engine behind Nicobar’s Home category – owning the numbers, the range, and the results across tableware, drinkware, textiles, décor, and furniture. Reporting to the CMO, you sit at the intersection of data and intuition, analysing what is selling, anticipating what should, and working across planning, design, sourcing, and retail to keep the category commercially sharp season after season.
Where You’ll Make Impact
Own the commercial performance of Home – sell-throughs, best and worst sellers, markdowns, and replenishment against seasonal targets.
Drive the Home range plan with design and sourcing – balanced, seasonally relevant, and aligned to pricing architecture and occasion (everyday, entertaining, gifting, festive).
Manage width, depth, and open-to-buy – balancing core replenishable lines against seasonal drops, and keeping inventory and stock cover healthy.
Build the seasonal buy and forecast – size and phase orders by channel, set OTB by sub-category, and manage in-season re-orders to protect margin.
Own markdown, ageing, and terminal-stock strategy – act early on slow sellers, plan exit routes, and keep provision and liquidation under control.
Ensure on-time launches across channels, flagging critical-path risks early enough to course-correct.
Set pricing and margin architecture for the category – benchmark against competitors, protect intake and realised margins, and guide sourcing on cost targets.
Partner with the design team on newness and hero products – translate commercial signals into clear briefs for gifting, festive, and collection drops.
Shop the market and competitors – identify white spaces and bring sharp, well-evidenced range recommendations.
Drive category expansion – spot adjacent sub-categories and gaps in tableware, textiles, décor, and gifting, and build the case to enter them.
Partner with VM and retail so the Home story is told well in-store and online,
and build reports and dashboards that turn numbers into decisions.
What You Bring Along
5–8 years in fashion, home, or lifestyle merchandising, with a minimum of 3 years handling the Home category.
Very strong analytical ability, including proficient, hands-on command of Excel / Google Sheets.
Fluent with AI and digital tools, and quick to apply them – turning technology into sharper planning, cleaner communication, and building efficient dashboards and workflows.
You understand what makes Home aesthetically and commercially different – sub-categories with distinct end uses, buying rhythms and margin logic.
Strong cross-functional skills with design, sourcing, planning, VM, and retail, and disciplined follow-through across multiple drops.
The Nicobar Spark A natural problem-solver – you break messy, ambiguous situations into clear parts, and you'd rather bring a solution than escalate a problem.
Strong stakeholder management – you build trust quickly across design, sourcing, planning, and retail, and you know how to influence without authority.
A explicit communicator – you turn numbers into a story people can act on, whether you're in a leadership review or a design huddle.
Calm under pressure – drops, deadlines, and last-minute changes don't rattle you; you re-prioritise and keep the critical path moving.
Detail-obsessed without losing the big picture – you sweat the SKU-level numbers but never lose sight of the season and the brand.
A builder, not just a doer – you leave behind better templates, cleaner reports, and sharper ways of working than you found.
Genuinely collaborative – you share credit, ask good questions, and make the people around you better.
Commercially curious – you keep asking "why" behind the numbers and "what next" for the category.
