About BacAlt

BacAlt turns discarded fruit into clean, scalable ingredients that replace plastic inside everyday products.

We brew bio-nano fibers (bacterial nanocellulose) and gamma-PGA from agricultural and fruit waste. Our open-air, non-sterile fermentation keeps capital and energy use lean. Our microbes are adaptively evolved and non-GMO, so our materials reach customers without GMO regulatory delay.

The role

You run our fermentation and recovery trains, batch after batch. You own the equipment during your shift, from inoculation through dried product.

This is a hands-on plant role. Fermentation runs around the clock, so shifts rotate and include nights.

What you do

- Operate and monitor bioreactors at 1 KL and above across full batch cycles.
- Run downstream recovery on disc stack centrifuges, decanters, TFF skids, and spray dryers.
- Execute CIP and SIP cycles, and confirm each one before release.
- Prepare media, transfer inoculum, and manage harvest and hold steps.
- Record every parameter in the batch manufacturing record during the shift itself.
- Flag deviations immediately, and log them before handover.
- Deliver a clean, written handover to the incoming shift, every time.
- Carry out first-line troubleshooting,



then escalate to maintenance with transparent symptoms.
- Keep the floor safe, clean, and audit-ready.

What you bring
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on bioprocess experience in a pilot or production facility.
- Direct operating experience on at least one bioreactor of 1 KL capacity or larger.
- Working knowledge of TFF, spray drying, disc stack centrifugation, and decantation.
- Diploma or degree in biotechnology, chemical engineering, or industrial biotechnology.
- Genuine comfort with night shifts and rotational schedules.
- Documentation discipline. You write it down as it happens, not afterwards.
- Mechanical confidence with pumps, valves, seals, and skid piping.

Bonus points for
- Recovery experience with polysaccharides, biopolymers, or high-viscosity broths.
- Exposure to open or non-sterile fermentation.
- Utilities familiarity: steam, chilled water, compressed air, and effluent handling.
- Basic PLC or SCADA operation on a process skid.
