Job Purpose MNN Society is an organization dedicated to maintaining the safety, care and general well-being of the oskayak (youth) that we serve. MNN Society provides Post-Majority Support Services to youth that support the growth of spirit, body, mind and emotions through maskekosihk natamakewin. The Navigator will provide a wide range of services to oskayak in care approaching the age of majority, have a TAP agreement and young adults formally in care of Child and Family Services. maskekosak oskayak will be aged 17 to their 26th Birthday.

Services offered to the oskayak will be self-identified as they deem the services to be in their best interest. The Navigator is a member of an interdisciplinary team, and within the organization's framework and standards, as well as cultural standards within maskekosak / Enoch Cree Nation. The Navigator will provide direct services, exploration of community resources and referrals based on the client's needs.

The Navigator acknowledges that the human spirit is intricately involved in the total person-mind, body, soul and spirit and will work with the client and the program to ensure that the holistic needs of maskekosak oskayak are being met. The Navigator will meet with clients for the purpose of planning self-directed case plans. If the needs are not within MNN's scope, the Navigator will make referrals to other significant service providers and agencies within the community.

You will work collaboratively with other community services including school teams, TAP (CFS) Caseworkers, RCMP, Victim Services, and local Indigenous and Non-Government Organizations to provide a comprehensive, person-centred approach to care while using best practices within your work. Education, Experience And Requirements Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or other Human Services-related field. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and registered with a professional licensing body. 2 years (recent) direct youth work experience or experience in family support work and advocacy is an asset.





Experience working with Indigenous populations and youth. Understanding of mental health and alcohol and drug addiction issues. Understanding and training in suicide intervention. Knowledge of available programs and services, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering care in the community.

Working Conditions Interview clients, prepare case histories and assess clients’ needs. Assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them. Support and guide the clients to achieve attainable outcomes that they have identified in their goals.

Liaise with community agencies or partners and identify additional or alternative services and provide referrals. Review with clients their progress and assist in resolving identified problems and movement toward defined objectives. Prepare follow-up and reports that are needed throughout the entire length of time that a youth is a client.

Attend Band

Consults as needed. Proficient knowledge of, and demonstrated working experience in, the comprehensive issues relating to colonization, intergenerational and residential school trauma, addictions and substance abuse, mental health issues, concurrent disorders, grief/loss, suicide ideation/intent, family violence and FN-specific issues. Knowledge of traditional and cultural methods of childcare, development, and healing and ceremonial practices with the ability and desire to take part in these practices with the client.

Enter contact notes into the system The Navigator will work in an office environment and is required to work 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday; however, the incumbent must be willing and able to flex their schedule if or when there are program and/or service changes, or if there is an emergency.

Will be required to work some weekends. Will be located in the MNN Society offices on the Enoch Cree Nation. Unless advised otherwise. Must sign and adhere to the Enoch Cree Nation Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.
