ABOUT AMURA
Amura Marketing Technologies is India's leading data-first growth marketing company, integrating MarTech, Gen AI, and creative solutions to deliver transformative results for 300+ clients across Manufacturing, SaaS/IT, Education, Pharma, E-commerce, and BFSI. Founded in 2009, with 200+ digital experts.
KEY PURPOSE The Associate Creative Director will own end-to-end creative direction for a portfolio of client accounts across content writing, design, and video, setting the conceptual and craft bar, leading a multidisciplinary team of writers, designers, art directors, and video professionals, and embedding AI-powered tools into the studio's daily workflow to sharpen both the quality and speed of output.
The role also carries commercial ownership: pricing input, revenue targets, upselling and cross-selling within existing accounts, and pitch work for new business. This is a hands-on leadership role spanning creative and commercial responsibility in equal measure: creative authority, team builder, client partner, and business driver.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Creative Direction & Craft — Content, Design & Video
- Create, implement, and oversee creative concepts and strategy across campaigns spanning copy, visual design, and video/motion, ensuring every deliverable meets Amura's quality and brand-fit standards.
- Set and safeguard the creative narrative across channels: messaging and tone of voice, visual identity and layout, and video/motion storytelling, so all three disciplines read as one coherent idea.
- Conduct brand, audience, and competitor research to ground creative decisions in evidence rather than instinct alone.
- Lead brainstorming and ideation sessions that generate distinctive, high-performing content, copy, and visual concepts.
- Produce and personally guide high-quality copywriting, content strategy, design, video, artwork, and layouts across projects.
- Oversee scripting, storyboarding, and direction for video and motion content, from concept through final cut.
Team Leadership
- Manage, train, and develop a multidisciplinary creative team — copywriters and content leads, designers and art directors, and video/motion professionals — building a pipeline of creative leadership within the department.
- Mentor Art Directors and senior content leads specifically, grooming them for expanded ownership and leadership responsibility.
- Maintain a growth and development tracker across all creative disciplines, with clear, individual skill-building plans.
AI-Enabled Workflow
- Champion the adoption of AI tools across the creative workflow — from ideation and moodboarding to asset generation, editing, and production — to improve both creativity and turnaround time.
- Build and train the team on a practical AI-in-creative framework, setting standards for where and how AI tools are used responsibly and effectively.
- Stay current on emerging AI platforms and creative technology, evaluating new tools and folding the useful ones into standard practice.
- Provide input in the creation and training of internal AI tools; drive enhancements and implementations.
Business & Revenue Ownership
- Partner with Account Management and leadership on pricing for creative services, ensuring scope, effort, and value are fairly and profitably reflected in client quotes and SOWs.
- Own revenue accountability for assigned accounts, working with Account Management to meet or exceed creative-vertical revenue targets.
- Proactively identify and drive upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts by spotting whitespace across content, design, and video services.
- Lead creative pitches and new-business presentations, translating strategic vision into winning, commercially sound proposals for prospective clients.
- Shape creative input into commercial proposals, ensuring pitched ideas are compelling, differentiated, and deliverable within agreed cost and timeline parameters.
Client & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Lead client meetings to present and defend creative ideas, and to maintain strong, trust-based client relationships.
- Collaborate closely with Account Management to translate client briefs and business objectives into creative direction.
- Partner with Social Media and Web Development teams to ensure creative output is executed faithfully across every channel.
- Communicate design rationale clearly through well-structured presentations to both internal teams and clients.
INTERACTIONS Internal: Creative Director, Art Directors, Copywriters & Content Leads, Video/Motion team,
Account Management, Social Media, Web Development, People & Operations.
External: Clients, production vendors, freelance talent, and agency partners.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Proven ability to supervise campaign, social media, video, and website creative end-to-end — from concept and script to final design and delivery.
- Strong command of copywriting and content strategy: tone of voice, messaging frameworks, and content that performs across digital, social, and brand platforms.
- Solid grounding in visual design principles — layout, typography, brand systems — sufficient to direct and critique design work with authority.
- Working knowledge of video and motion production — scripting, storyboarding, shoot direction, and post-production — to brief and evaluate video work confidently.
- Working fluency with AI creative platforms across disciplines: e.g. ChatGPT/Claude and Jasper for copy and content; Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, and Canva AI for design; Synthesia and Runway for video and motion. Able to build workflows that combine these tools for faster ideation and production.
- Commercial acumen — a working understanding of agency pricing models, service costing, and the levers that drive account revenue, upsell, and margin.
- Comfortable with collaborative work-management platforms (Jira, Asana, Trello, Wrike, Basecamp, or similar) and building department productivity reporting.
- Self-starter with a proactive, ownership-driven approach to work.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organisational abilities; demonstrated leadership presence across a multidisciplinary team.
PROFILE
- 5–10 years of experience in the creative domain, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, with exposure to content, design, and video (not design alone).
- Hands-on experience across the creative process, marketing, brand development, and at least two of: copywriting, graphic design, video production.
- A portfolio that demonstrates strategic thinking, original concepts, and strong execution across copy, visual design, and video/motion.
- Demonstrated exposure to the commercial side of agency work — pricing conversations, revenue targets, upselling/cross-selling, or pitch and recent-business work.
- Graduate or postgraduate qualification in design, mass communication, film, advertising, or a related creative field (BFA, BDes, MFA, MDes, or equivalent).
- Prior experience working within an advertising or marketing agency environment is required.
