We are seeking an experienced and proactive Area Legal Manager to oversee legal due diligence and title verification for the Home Loan portfolio. The role involves examining property documents, identifying legal risks, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting the business team in delivering quality loan disbursements.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in property law, mortgage documentation, and legal scrutiny of Home Loan cases within a Banking, Housing Finance Company (HFC), or NBFC workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal scrutiny and title verification of properties offered as collateral for Home Loans.
- Examine title deeds, encumbrance certificates, revenue records, approvals, and related property documents.
- Assess ownership patterns, title flow, and marketability of the property.
- Provide legal opinions and recommendations on property eligibility and associated risks.
- Identify legal deficiencies and guide business teams on risk mitigation measures.
- Coordinate with empaneled advocates, technical agencies, operations, and sales teams to ensure smooth processing of loan files.
- Ensure compliance with internal legal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support branch and credit teams in resolving legal issues related to loan proposals.
- Handle documentation related to mortgage creation, registration, and loan disbursement.
- Monitor legal exceptions and ensure timely closure of pending legal observations.
- Maintain high standards of portfolio quality through robust legal risk assessment.
Desired Candidate Profile
Educational Qualification
- LLB (Bachelor of Laws) mandatory
- LLM or additional qualified qualifications will be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Up to 5 years of experience in Banking, NBFC, Housing Finance, or Legal Due Diligence functions.
- Minimum 3 years of mandatory experience in Home Loan legal assessment and property document verification.
- Experience in handling legal evaluations for residential mortgage lending and housing finance portfolios.
