Agronomist & Farm Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and technically sound Agronomist cum Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of our protected cultivation (polyhouse) farm. The ideal candidate should have robust knowledge of crop production, fertigation, irrigation, pest and disease management, and team supervision. This role requires both technical expertise and hands-on farm management to ensure maximum productivity and high-quality produce.

Key Responsibilities -

Crop Management

- Plan and supervise all crop production activities from nursery to harvest.
- Monitor crop health and identify nutrient deficiencies, pests, and diseases.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective crop management strategies.
- Maintain high productivity and quality standards.

Fertigation & Irrigation

- Prepare and execute fertigation schedules based on crop growth stages.
- Monitor EC, pH, water quality, and irrigation efficiency.
- Optimize fertilizer usage to improve yield and reduce wastage.

Pest & Disease Management

- Scout crops regularly for pest and disease incidence.
- Recommend and implement integrated pest management (IPM) practices.
- Maintain spray schedules and ensure safe pesticide usage.

Farm Operations

- Manage daily farm activities and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Supervise and train farm workers.
- Allocate manpower efficiently to maximize productivity.
- Ensure proper maintenance of irrigation systems, equipment, and farm infrastructure.

Production Planning

- Plan nursery schedules, transplanting, harvesting, and crop rotations.
- Forecast production based on market demand.
- Maintain consistent harvest schedules.

Record Keeping

- Maintain records of fertigation, irrigation, pesticide applications, harvests, yields, labor attendance,



and inventory.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly farm reports.
- Track input consumption and recommend cost-saving measures.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure adherence to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
- Maintain farm hygiene and food safety standards.
- Ensure proper handling and post-harvest practices.

Inventory Management

- Monitor stock of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other farm inputs.
- Plan timely procurement to avoid stock shortages.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in protected cultivation, greenhouse, polyhouse, hydroponics, or high-value vegetable production.
- Strong knowledge of fertigation, irrigation systems, plant nutrition, and crop protection.
- Experience managing farm labor and daily operations.
- Ability to analyze crop issues and provide practical solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for record keeping.
- Willingness to work on-site and be actively involved in farm operations.

Preferred Skills

- Specialty in growing English cucumber, bell pepper.
- Knowledge of climate management inside polyhouses.
- Familiarity with drip irrigation systems and water quality management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of farm performance.
