Role: Programme Director (Education), Sukma, Bastar,Chhattisgarh Experience: Minimum 5 years, including at least 3years in education Salary: 10-12 LPA Location: 70% onsite in Sukma,Bastar, Chhattisgarh + 30% work from home____________________________________________________________________About the role: As Programme Director, you will lead the design,implementation, review, and strengthening of our education programsacross geographies. You will work closely with the founders, coreleadership team, program teams, district teams, and governmentstakeholders to ensure that programs are implemented with quality,care, accountability, and learning. You will be expected tobalance: Program strategy with field realities Pedagogy andcurriculum thinking with execution discipline Government engagementwith community-rooted implementation Data and evidence withhuman-centred decision-making Team accountability with empathy andsupport. Key Roles and Responsibilities 1. Program Strategy, Designand Planning Lead the design and strengthening of large-scaleeducation programs across our geographies. Translate our vision ofPositive Childhood Experiences into clear program goals,strategies, activities, and outcomes. Develop annual and multi-yearprogram plans, including priorities, timelines, resource needs, andsuccess indicators. Ensure that programs are contextually relevantfor children in tribal, rural, conflict-affected, andresource-constrained settings. Support program teams in developingclear logic models, implementation plans, and review mechanisms. 2.Curriculum, Pedagogy and Learning Quality Provide leadership andguidance on curriculum, pedagogy, and classroom implementationacross programs. Ensure that learning resources, modules, teachertraining plans, and classroom practices are aligned with children'sneeds and program goals. Strengthen integration of FoundationalLiteracy and Numeracy, STEM, SEL, ecology, gender, inclusion, andPositive Childhood Experiences across relevant programs. Supportteams in designing child-centred, contextual, multilingual, andactivity-based learning approaches. Review classroom-level evidenceand field insights to improve program design and learning quality.3. Large-Scale Program Implementation Lead and supportimplementation of district-level and multi-district educationprograms. Build systems for planning, execution, tracking, review,and course correction. Work with program managers, district leads,school support coordinators, and field teams to ensure timely andquality implementation.
Anticipate implementation challenges indifficult geographies and support teams in finding practicalsolutions. Ensure that program delivery remains strong even underresource constraints, field access challenges, and changinggovernment priorities. 4. Government and Stakeholder EngagementBuild and sustain strong working relationships with districtadministration, education departments, SCERT/DIETs, block-levelofficials, and school leadership. Represent the organisation ingovernment meetings, reviews, consultations, and programdiscussions. Support government departments in planning,implementation, data review, and capacity-building processes.Ensure that our work contributes meaningfully to public educationsystems rather than functioning as a parallel structure. Identifyopportunities for government partnerships, scale, and policy-levelinfluence. 5. Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Lead thedevelopment and strengthening of program monitoring and evaluationsystems. Define clear indicators, tools, dashboards, reviewformats, and reporting rhythms for programs. Use data to assessprogram progress, learning outcomes, implementation quality, andteam performance. Ensure regular field reviews, classroomobservations, assessments, and documentation of learning. Convertevidence and insights into program improvements, case studies,reports, and knowledge products. 6. Team Leadership and CapacityBuilding Lead, guide, and mentor program teams working acrossdifferent geographies and thematic areas. Build ownership, clarity,and accountability within teams while maintaining a culture oftrust and care. Support team members in strengthening their skillsin program design, pedagogy, implementation, documentation, anddata use. Manage diverse teams working in resource-constrained andemotionally demanding contexts. Create simple systems for teamreviews, work planning, feedback, and performance support. 7.Documentation, Reporting and Knowledge Building Ensure high-qualitydocumentation of program processes, field insights, children'slearning, teacher practices, and implementation models. Lead thepreparation of program reports for internal reviews, donors,government departments, and partners. Support the development ofcase studies, learning notes,
toolkits, program briefs, andknowledge products. Strengthen our ability to tell grounded,evidence-backed stories of change from the field. What We AreLooking For Experience and Skills Minimum 5 years of overallprofessional experience. At least 3 years of relevant experience ineducation. Experience of managing large-scale district-level orsystem-level education programs. Prior experience of working withgovernment departments, especially education departments, districtadministration, SCERT, DIETs, or block-level systems. Strongprogram design, planning, implementation, and review skills. Strongunderstanding of curriculum, pedagogy, classroom processes, andteacher capacity building. Understanding of Monitoring, Evaluationand Learning systems, including indicators, tools, assessments,dashboards, and reporting. Strong documentation and writing skills.Experience in managing teams under resource constraints and complexfield realities. Ability to work with diverse stakeholdersincluding government officials, teachers, community members,funders, and grassroots teams. Strong communication skills inEnglish and Hindi. Leadership and Mindset Deep commitment tochildren, education, equity, and dignity. Comfort with living andworking in Sukma/Bastar for a significant part of the role. Abilityto lead with humility, empathy, clarity, and accountability. Strongproblem-solving ability in uncertain and resource-constrainedcontexts. Willingness to learn, unlearn, listen deeply, and adaptto field realities. Ability to work closely with local youth teamsand build their leadership. Robust sense of ownership and long-termcommitment to the mission.
