Purpose/Objective

Engineer - Protection is responsible for managing the development, installation, and maintenance of protection systems for electrical networks, ensuring robust fault detection, isolation mechanisms, and compliance with safety and operational standards to safeguard infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Protection System Design and Implementation: Design and implement protection systems for renewable energy infrastructure, developing detailed schemes with relay settings, breaker configurations, and fault detection protocols.
Create protection system designs with advanced relay settings and breaker coordination, ensuring robust safeguarding against electrical anomalies.
Protection Equipment Testing: Conduct thorough testing of protection equipment, including functional tests, calibration checks, and fault simulations, to ensure correct and efficient operation.
Execute rigorous testing protocols to verify protection equipment performance, using simulation tools and diagnostic instruments.
Fault Analysis and Resolution: Analyze electrical faults and protection system failures to determine root causes, using diagnostic tools and methodologies.
Perform in-depth fault analysis and apply corrective measures to enhance system resilience against future faults.
Compliance and Safety Checks: Ensure protection systems comply with industry standards and safety regulations, conducting regular audits and inspections.
Conduct systematic safety audits to ensure adherence to standards, addressing deviations promptly.
System Optimization: Optimize protection system performance by adjusting settings and configurations based on operational data and metrics.
Implement enhancements to improve system responsiveness and fault detection accuracy, ensuring continuous protection.
Documentation and Reporting: Generate detailed reports on protection system performance, testing results, and fault analyses,



maintaining comprehensive documentation.
Prepare performance and testing reports, maintaining accurate documentation for future reference and regulatory review.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
Robust academic foundation in power systems, protection systems, and relay coordination.
Proficiency in relay setting software and analysis tools is essential.
Work Experience: 2 - 4 years of experience in protection system design, configuration, and testing for power systems.
Hands-on experience in relay coordination studies, short circuit calculations, and protection scheme development.
Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and grid codes.
