1. Job Purpose

- Overall responsibility for leading, directing and smooth functioning of the CSSD dept.
- Design and drive CSSD policies and procedures across the hospital to ensure highest level of sterilization and infection control as per RFH standards of excellence

2. Accountabilities

a. Key Responsibilities: Service

- Plan, lead and direct departmental activities and collaborate with other department for smooth functioning and effective patient care and management
- Ideate, recommend, develop or suggest best policies and procedures, to Director Anesthesia and Pain Management to be finally approved by medical leadership
- Drive adherence to the policies and procedures & staff safety and by laws across the department
- Responsible for designing the departmental governance framework
- Oversee day to day planning and execution of the sterilization work processes for the safety of patients and staff.
- Liaise and coordinate with all Directors and medical leadership on their CSSD requirements
- Plan for uninterrupted supply of sterilized items to all areas of hospital
- Conducts periodic audits across the departments to ensure compliance with the set CSSD standards
- Review recalls, investigate and take appropriate actions to ensure rectification of the defect / issue / error. Take actions to prevent future occurrence
- Monitor the calibration, maintenance and AMC of the CSSD instruments and equipment used
- Liaise with Biomedical Engineering to ensure proper upkeep and operations of all CSSD equipment
- Conduct validation of process logbooks for CSSD compliance. Take appropriate actions thereto.




- Ensure that any issues / complaints of the internal customers are resolved in a timely manner
- Analyze monthly feedback reports from the user departments and take necessary steps towards correction if needed
- Resolve any interdepartmental matters to ensure smooth functioning of the department.
- Perform any other duty as assigned by hospital management from time to time

Key Responsibilities: Growth

- Plan and oversee CSSD service all new clinical pathways, specialty as and when required
- Participate in health programs in the hospital, Outreach activities, or communities for prevention and treatment of injuries or illnesses.

Key Responsibilities: Quality

- Ensure CSSD quality indicators are within the defined bench mark
- Actively lead and be accountable for implementation of all quality programs to ensure continuous quality improvement in the department
- Ensure adherence to internationally accepted standards of care, including but not limited to those recommended by JCI, NABH and other quality systems
- Strive to improve quality outcome of the sterilization processes

Key Responsibilities : Finance

- Plan capex / opex in terms of CSSD equipment and instruments,



consumables and supplies to support routine and contingency operation
- Monitor expenditure to control variance

Key Responsibilities : People

- Support HR in selection and onboarding of the most suitable and competent team members
- Set the goals for team members and be responsible for performance evaluation / assessment / appraisals. Drive high performance and skilled excellence
- Ensure induction / orientation training of functional and technical skills of the team members. Identify successor and act as a mentor / coach to develop the successor
- Identify, mentor and coach a capable and competent Deputy, whose roles and responsibilities will be developed in line with the organization growth

Innovation and Research

- Keep abreast of the developments in the CSSD domain and plan for continuous improvement in technology / process / system
- Provide and document continuing education and new trends in infection control and safety for Central Service staff.
- Lead and participate in research activities of the departmental / hospital
