We have an Requirement for Resident Engineer - Chennai

Job Location - Chennai

Experience - 7 - 12 years

- Experienced CATIA V5 Designer with strong expertise in automotive interior Headliner/ Door Trims/IP & CC design and development.
- The candidate should possess hands-on experience in 3D modeling, engineering feasibility, tooling coordination, and production-ready CAD development in line with OEM standards and CAD methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and modify 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5.
- Design and release automotive interior hard trim components with major focus on Headliner/Door Trims/IP/CC
- Work on Class-A integration, attachment strategy, tooling feasibility, and manufacturability.
- Execute engineering changes from Product Engineering, Tooling, Manufacturing, and Customer teams.
- Ensure CAD quality and compliance with OEM standards, packaging requirements, and CAD methodologies.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including CAE, Tooling, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.




- Support DFM/DFA activities and tooling reviews.
- Participate in design reviews, tolerance stack-up discussions, and issue resolution.
- Prepare and maintain CAD data, BOM inputs, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure timely delivery of CAD milestones within project timelines.

Qualification Criteria

- Strong expertise in CATIA V5.
- Minimum 8-12years experience in automotive interior products.
- Mandatory experience in Door Trims/IP/CC
- Valuable understanding of:
- Injection molding concepts
- Attachment features (heat stakes, snaps, doghouses, ribs, locators, etc.)
- Tooling feasibility and manufacturing constraints
- GD&T; and tolerance management
- Automotive product development cycle
- Experience working with OEMs/Tier-1 suppliers.
- Knowledge of engineering change management processes.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
