Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Head – Taxation to lead the Company's direct and indirect tax functions. The role is responsible for ensuring end-to-end tax compliance, developing tax-productive strategies, managing tax risks, and providing expert advisory support to the business. The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws while supporting business growth through effective tax planning and governance.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in taxation, preferably within the jewellery, retail, manufacturing, or consumer goods sectors, with strong expertise in GST, Income Tax, TDS, tax litigation, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Strategy & Advisory

- Develop and implement the Company's tax strategy in alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Advise senior management on tax implications relating to business expansion, investments, restructuring, and new business initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for tax optimization while ensuring full compliance with applicable laws.

Direct Tax Management

- Oversee compliance with the Income Tax Act, including advance tax computations, return filings, tax audits, and assessments.
- Manage TDS compliance, reconciliations, statutory filings, and reporting requirements.
- Review tax provisions, deferred tax computations, and tax disclosures in financial statements.
- Represent the Company before tax authorities during assessments, appeals, and audits.

Indirect Tax Management

- Lead GST compliance including return filing, reconciliations, annual returns, and departmental audits.
- Ensure proper classification, valuation, and tax treatment of jewellery products and related transactions.




- Monitor input tax credit optimization and compliance with GST regulations.
- Provide guidance on GST implications for business transactions, procurement, and interstate operations.

Compliance & Governance

- Ensure timely compliance with all direct and indirect tax laws.
- Develop and strengthen tax governance frameworks, internal controls, and compliance processes.
- Monitor legislative developments and assess their impact on business operations.
- Maintain robust documentation to support audits, assessments, and regulatory reviews.

Tax Litigation & Regulatory Management

- Manage tax notices, assessments, departmental audits, and litigation matters.
- Coordinate with legal counsel, tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Prepare responses to tax authorities and oversee appeal proceedings where required.

Business Partnering

- Collaborate with Finance, Accounts, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Business teams to ensure tax-efficient business operations.
- Provide timely tax advisory support for contracts, vendor agreements, and commercial transactions.
- Conduct internal training sessions on taxation updates and compliance requirements.

Leadership & Process Improvement

- Lead and mentor the taxation team while fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
- Drive automation of tax processes through ERP and digital solutions.
- Continuously improve tax reporting, reconciliations, and compliance efficiency.

Qualifications

- Chartered Accountant (CA) – Preffered.
- Additional qualifications in taxation or law will be an advantage.

Experience

- 10–15 years of progressive experience in taxation.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing direct and indirect taxation.
- Prior experience in the jewellery, retail, manufacturing, or FMCG industry is highly preferred.
- Experience handling GST audits, Income Tax assessments, and tax litigation is essential.
